3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
An american honey wheat rather than a ’hefe’. Grassy aroma. Light golden color, with a slight haze. Flavors of lemon and pale malt. Finish is mildly acidic with a definate honey dryness.

A mediocre beer. Shiner really doesn’t produce much worth talking about.

Pretty good hefe! From a little brewery in Texas, you cant expect much better. Slice of lemon is required though. Rerate: this was the first hefe I ever had, so I didnt know anything back then. Decent flavor, but not indicative of the style. Citric skunk finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
nice but weak aroma, cloudy, golden orange color. the flavor is mild in my opion for a hefe. the finish is clean, but with an odd metalic after taste

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pleasent surprise from Shiner, if you’re familiar with their weak ’bock’. Good wheat beer flavor & cloudy appearance. Not prfect by a long shot, but it seems to be pretty good for the money.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
There’s a weird metallic taste to this Shiner brew. As if their Bock didn’t suck enough, this one sucks too! What’s with these guys? The beer is acidic and painful to drink. Go with a Casta Triguera if you have a choice!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice looking beer. Color not exceptional, but a pretty good head that never went away. Definite malty wheaty taste that reminded me of biscuits for some reason. Lacked any estery fruitiness, but had some nice citrusy aspects. Not a bad American take on the style.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cloudy yellow, white head, fair lace, nose is mostly malt, start is slightly sweet, thin at the middle, finish is lightly carbonated, some hops, dry, a tad acidic. ’Average’ at best.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
the color is almost right -- a cloudy yellow and slightly dim. light aroma with none of the typical yeasty character of a hefe. a bit watery. some hop in the finish of indeterminable type.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pretty carbonated, medium head. Light golden amber color, opaque (of course). Light wheat malt aroma. The first thing I noticed about this beer’s taste was the light body. Maybe the lightest bodied hefe I’ve tried. Some lightly citric hefe flavors there, a scant amount of hop taste in the finish. This is ’hefe light’, which, in all honesty, is exactly what I was expecting. Shiner is not an adventurous brewer, and I fully understand that they must pander to a certain degree. However, I am a beer geek...I do not fit their demographic, realistically speaking. I don’t hate it, but I’ll pick 20 other wheat brews over this one.
