Pours a dark brown color with tan head. Cereal grains, spice, a little dark fruits, and some caramel malts on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little spice. My favorite Shiner beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass.
Appearance: The body has a dark garnet red color with visible carbonation inside. The pour produced a tall light tan head with good retention and lacing.
Smell: There are loads of ripe and over ripe peaches, nectarines and plums. Behind all the fruit it has a light white bready maltiness.
Taste / Palate: The aroma is matched on the tongue. It’s sweet up front with loads of stone fruit with a touch of tart black cherry. Mild hop bitterness come in to add a nice balance of bitterness in the finish.
Notes: This is an amazingly complex and well-balanced beer from the Spoetzl Brewery!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Probably my favorite Shiner, which to be honest, is not saying much. The aroma was of peach and malt. Burnt caramel color. Average weight with good carbonation. Pleasant blend of flavors with subtle peach, pecan and wood. Hops are low, which is fine. Well done beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rated on 01-05-2012 (Bottle) When poured, the head is small, semi-frothy and ivory. It has a orange transparent body, fizzy carbonation observed and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt, nutty, suggestion of wheat, peaches, and sweet. The flavor is sweet, peaches, nutty, malt, suggestion of some wheat, and has a short dry finish. The mouthfeel is softly carbonated and this beer is light-medium bodied. The flavor of this beer is a nice surprise to me as fruit beers are not one of my favorite beer styles, but this beer has a tasty flavor and is worth trying despite the low ratings.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours dark deep amber with a sandy colored head. Aroma is my favorite part, sweet, prevalent peaches straight up beautiful in the nose, so pleasant. Body is a bit thinner than I wanted but appropriate for the style. Flavors bring peaches and a sublte malty base, balanced well with a bit of toastiness and no bitterness.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark in the glass with a beige head. The nose is smooth and sweet. The beer starts very fruity and smooth. Lots of peaches here, a bit sticky and sweet. The pecan nuts are very subtle in the dry malt tastable, smooth and easy to drink. The aftertaste is long, peaches, dry malt, nice sweetness.
A nice easy to drink beer which I think will fit perfect to a christmas-dinner. But for me it is a bit too sweet and sticky. --> 10/12/10/10

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a dark chestnut color which is disappointingly devoid of haziness for the style. The head is a one finger off-white shade. It isn’t particularly creamy, nor does it have great retention. It leaves behind a thin ring of lacing on the glass.
S: Peach notes are at the forefront. I’m having trouble picking up any nuanced malt qualities, though, and that’s unfortunate. Maybe a touch of caramel and some wheat. At first, I thought I picked up a cheesy scent, but that’s gone away almost entirely in the glass. The fruitiness IS pretty nice anyways.
T: Okay, I lied - the malt here is like a punch in the face. It hits the palate immediately with caramel-laden sweetness, clashing with the (nice) peach notes instead of coexisting peacefully. At least the peachy finish is pleasant - too bad I don’t pick up much pecan flavor. There’s too much in the way of clashing flavors for me to enjoy this.
M: Light, but too sweet on the palate to really inspire drinkability. Carbonation does its damnedest to help it go down, though.
O: It’s a shame about its lack of balance, because I enjoy the fruity flavors of this. Wasn’t a fan of this one, frankly. On the plus side, I can see this appealing to other drinkers.
