COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Kosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmos’ mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.”

Pours a clear brown amber with a light tan frothy head. Aroma of deep malt. Taste is mild malty. Not a lot of hops. So so.

Its body has a light golden color and good clarity with a tall white soapy head. This tall head quickly settles down to thin film of foam. Lacing is slick and minimal. There is not much here at all really just faint pale grainy malt notes with some light hints of grassy hops. There is a light sweetness from a white bready maltiness and cereal grain adjunct notes. The hops balance this with some grassy/earthy bitterness. There is a slight citrus like acidity as well in there. The finish is soft and dry with light carbonation.

rating due to psychic hypnosis via Buffalo alien. This is a mess. A hopped up and unbalance lager. Ugh. As a hop grower I am insulted at the waste of decent hops in this concoction of abject commercialism. Bleah.

Pours a medium golden color with huge frothy white head that slowly recedes. Aromas of earthy mineral water atop grainy sweet bread. Light earthy hop aroma. The flavor is a bit malty sweet with a light earthy fruitiness. Medium to full body with a moderate level of carbonation. So far I liked this on the most from the mixed 12 pack I got. Its a decent lager, not horribly complex or continental inspired, but drinkable just the same.

More beer from my trip to the Amarillo liquor store. Smells and tastes like skunked Shiner Bock. How disappointing. This is the peril of slighly less low expectations.

From a bottle. Pours clear gold with a fizzy off white head. Tastes like dry, grassy malt, musky corn. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like grass, musk, light grains.

Bottle from sampler pack. Pours amber with white head. Aroma is biscuit and cereal malts, some grassiness, light floral notes, and faint funk. Flavor is dry malts, light funk, faint hops, and faint light fruit esters; dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

12 oz bottle from Cosco. No detectable aroma. Amber color with white head that disappears quickly. Munich malt and noble hop taste. Drinkable but disappointing.

Not that great of a beer. Has a floral astringent finish. No aroma no head. Odd for a premium lager, can’t say I’m impressed. better options by this brewer.

12 oz bottle from the six type summer sampler case. Plenty of hops with a medium body. Surprised this wasn’t so bad. Good antidote for the summer heat.
