3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Situation: Feeling good, so I will review a second...
Glassware: Standard pilsner...
Appearance: choppy, off-whitehead creates islands of thin head atop a copper-bronze body with little effervescence...
Aroma: having trouble smelling the hops promised by its label; malt is present...
Palate: balanced mouthfeel with an oily end to a medium-bodied intro...
Taste: the straight-up lager base that Shiner has perfected seems slightly amiss here, with the subtle fruitiness not distinguinshing tself among its fellow Shiners...
Overall: I began eating chips halfway through this tasting--it wasn’t in search of a proper pairing--actually, not an indictment, but the word RESERVE usually is, well, reserved for a beer that stands out... and this does not...

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle. Pours golden with a short lived, thin, white head. Aroma is of caramel, biscuit malt and perfume hops. Medium, slightly crisp body. Some herbal hops and bready malt fill the mouth. Short, forgettable finish. This is nothing-special brew.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
THOUGHTS: Not bad. Better than I was expecting. Nice little hope bite you don’t often see in American lagers. Tons better than a macro, but still easy to drink. Would make a good transition beer for macro drinkers. Decent session beer, too.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium yellow with an average, slightly off-white head that kept a decent sheet and left fair lacing. The aroma had light to moderate cracker light bread, cookie and pale malt; and light to moderate floral, perfume and citrus hops. The initial flavor was slightly sweet, slightly sour and ever so slightly bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet, slightly sour and light to moderately bitter with an average duration. There was pale malts, a little cracker, lemon citrus hops, floral hops a little grassy hops, white bread and straw. The light body was watery and then sort of dry with lightly fizzy carbonation and and ever so slightly metallic finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Harris Teeter, DC variety sixer ($7): Pours a slightly darker than pale lager colour with a white head. Aroma is of grain and a bit of hops. There isn’t much to say about this beer except that it is a rather sessionable, easy drinking lager. That being said, it is certainly better than most macro lagers on the market, even if it is not much more interesting.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle; looked fairly yellow when poured, but took on amber color while in the glass. Head was small and short lasting. Aroma of grass, corn and earth; flavor was a big let down. Hops are hidden behind a whole lot of bland.
