COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Kosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmos’ mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.”

One of the best after the Bock in the family six pack. I don’t understand why they never gave it its own six pack and if they did why i couldn’t find it anywhere in Houston area.

12 oz bottle from D&Q. Somewhat unusual lager with a few hop and spicy notes. Not too sweet.

Bottled sample from my Shiner family pack (great name). Was much better than I expected it to be

Underwhelming. I’d rather have a Boston Lager than this. The bitterness, while not that high, is a bit much for the light malt backbone of the lager.

GuilTTy (728) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - JUL 3, 2011
Bottle from Total Wine & More in Cherry Hill, NJ. Clear light amber under a short light tan head. No lacing. Not much aroma aside from a little straw. Not much going on in the flavors either. A few notes of lemon and very weak toffee now and again with a restrained malt presence. Thin texture and no noticeable finish. This was included in a sampler pack. Not worth seeking out on it’s own.

Bottle from Bottle King. Nice copper body with medium head. Nose is quite malty and spicy. Taste is lots of hops with barley notes. Nice watery texture and quite enjoyable.

Pretty light and drinkable lager. I enjoyed it and would happily drink a case of it but nothing special.

Bottle; clear and golden, without any hint of carbonation. This is an every-man’s beer, without much to be offended by, and little to get excited about either. Slightly corny, but not obliquely so. Eh ... (#4139, 6/18/2011)

Shiner Kosmos Reserve has a thin-to-medium, egg shell-colored head and a clear, copper appearance, with a good amount of bubbles streaming up and some lacing left behind. The aroma is of roasted barley and, surprisingly, of some slight citrus. Taste is of barley, and a decent hoppiness shows up here. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Shiner Kosmos Reserve finishes crisp, clean, and very refreshing. Overall, this is one of the better Shiner offerings. I recommend it! RJT

Bottle:   Translucent golden, very clear, thin whispy white head, sparce lacing.   Pale bready nose, fairly malty.   Sweet malty start, even a little bit of peppercorn or something.   Not half bad.   Pale breadiness.   Seems pretty smooth.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   The breadiness for some reason reminds me of waffles.   Clean on the finish.   Simple straight forward lager that has the right amount of sweetness.   Fairly tasty.
