1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
bottle. Pours orange tined gold with frothy white head. Aroma is lemon, grass, soft skunk. Balanced flavor with lemon, hay, some grassy hops on the finish, which evolve into a watery skunk like flavor. Medium carbonation, medium to light bodied, but not resembling a light beer or anything. As it warms a little bit of a soapiness. Not the worst lager - although its uninteresting and there are some weird flavors going on in here none of them are outright bad, it is drinkable to be sure.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma is grains, straw and grass. Flavors of grains, straw, stale bread, and a hint of minerals. Somewhat herbal and muddled finish. Even though it isn’t a winner it is more drinkable than say.... Weinhard’s reserve. Ah, whatever.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Continuing through the Shiner/Spoetzel variety 6-pack. This one smells and pours the best of the three I’ve had so far. Head starts at about 2" and recedes to .5" foamy top layer. Color is between deep gold and amber. Smell is still metallic. This is like Shiner Bock with a bit more caramel/roasted malt. I definitely prefer this to Shiner Bock, but it’s still a forgettable lager. I certainly wouldn’t call it "hop jacked." Easy to drink, nothing terribly offensive, but also nothing terribly attractive.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A clear, golden pour with white head. The light aroma is mostly grains. The light body has a thin texture and clean finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle, one of the 6 beers included in Shiner’s Family Reunion 6-pack. Served in a pilsner glass, the beer pours a clear dark gold color with a half inch white head. Head retention and lacing are both OK. Aroma is toasted and bready malt, along with some grassy hops. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s a nice herbal/spicy taste noticable too. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium with moderate carbonation. Drinkability is good, it’s smooth and easy to drink. Overall I think it’s a pretty decent brew, I enjoyed it.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan. Steady, thin, white head. Medium bodied, sessionable Lager. Smooth malty tones, nice Lager tones. Unimpressive soapy, peppery hop balance. A little too harsh and biting, kind of throws the beer off. I can dig the concept, but it certainly isn’t done well here. OK and sessionable.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
From the bottle - an American Pale Lager pale lager described as over-hopped. It is, resulting in an astringent brew. Its clean aroma is actually a bit more attractive than the actual super-dry taste. There is a bit of a vegetable taste to the beer while the body seems rather light and thin. More like the Shiner 101, nice concept but not to my taste.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear amber with a quickly diminishing off white head. Slight hoppy smell. Tasted more hoppy than it’s aroma. Clean, refreshing finish. Good brew!
