COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ďKosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmosí mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.Ē

A - Poured a quarter-finger head. Look of the brew is completely lager. Not much going on. Head is gone after about 10 seconds. S - Some honey, bockiness, wheat and some bread smells are coming through. None are too strong though. T - More honey and bock tastes are coming through. The malt itself is deep but the aftertaste is like a Miller High Life. Itís a very disappointing taste but starts out okay. M - Lots of carbonation while swishing but not much to speak of in general O - Iíd take this beer fishing. ITís not great but I feel it would be better if served in a can.

From notes: Pours clear golden amber with a thin, 1-finger white head. Aroma is earthy, with perhaps a touch of citrus. Body is medium-to-thin. Very mild flavors. Yeasaty, with a slight citrusy note. nothing special.

Gold pour with foamy white head and lace. Aroma reminds me of flat wheat even though I know it canít be. A flavor I associate with corn followed by a bit of semi sweet malt and a wee tad of bitter. Light bodied and foamy. Not very much.,

12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin white head, with some lacing, over a clear gold (SRM 5) body....nose is light cereal, hints of hop spice....taste is cereal, touch of biscuit, finishing with a light bitterness....mouth feel light, carbonation high. This is a light beer with minimal aroma, flavor and complexity and is quite typical of this brewery. The best that can be said is that it did not smell or taste bad. BJCP 4/3/9/4/4

Dark amber. Fast, white head. Aroma: Grains, caramel. Flavor: Grains, malt, caramel, hops and some spices I cannot identify. Unusual to the finish and difficult to rate. Going by the ratings, this is a beer you will either like or hate and I have never seen opinions differ so much. I for one do not like grainy lagers but I like this one so I guess I have to "Drink my words!"

Pours a clear copper with thin white head and decent lacing. Aroma of malt, malt, and more malt. Taste is almost sickeningly sweet with no hoppy balance at all. Not impressed in the least.

Not a bad beer. It poured a deep golden body, lively with bubbling, and a tall white head. The aroma was moderately sweet, grainy, with a quiet earthiness. That pretty well describes the flavor, as well. It finished on a dry earthy note. Repeatable.

Aroma and appearance where nothing to talk about. Taste was typical until the hops kicked in. Itís a nice summer beer that Iím trying in December.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear gold with a fizzy white head. Not much in the way of head retention or lacing. Aroma is of stale grain and cooked vegetables. Maybe a little hint of lemon. Flavor is honestly pretty weak. Some light graininess along with a slight vegetable taste. There is a distinct bitterness throughout but not as much malty flavor as I would have liked. I feel like this beer just misses the mark. It is not terrible by any means but is simply boring.

zestytaco (34) - Niceville, Florida, USA - DEC 16, 2011
Pours a pale yellow color with a white head that fades quickly. Has the strong aroma of cooked corn with a grassy undertone. Clean light malt flavor with a hint of sweetness. Honestly this isnít a bad beer. This style gets such a bad rap from the macros that decent lagers like this one get lost in the shuffle.
