2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Nose is tangerine, toast, a touch of skunk. Pours a dark gold with a white, fine-grained head. Typical lager taste, not bad, not great, but with a touch of metallic overtone. The description may say hop-jacked, but I can’t taste much at all. Shatteringly mediocre.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured a very clear yellow with a white head. Not much aroma, mostly malty, slightly skunky. Taste is slightly sweet and malty with some spices. Not the worst premium lager I’ve had. Drinkable.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from a mixed six pack.
Aroma: The nose has a bit of light fresh malt and a touch of hops. Very clean.
Appearance: It pours a light amber color with a medium, pillowy, white head. Decent head retention.
Taste: There is a light biscuity malt note paired with an off metallic note. Seems a little light in the hops department. As in none.
Palate: Light to medium body with softer than average carbonation leading to a tinny finish.
Overall: Rather meh. It may say it’s hop jacked, but I think the hops got hijacked before they made it to the brewery.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2010 Shiner used to be mysterious, highly regarded, like it was a rare treat to find a bottle of it. I guess I was wrong.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Golden with rapidly dissipating white head. It’s a pale lager... But that being said, its really good for the style. Actually has an ok body and doesn’t taste like adjuncts. Much, much better than a typical macro.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I love this beer, its great. The flavor is there, the texture is great, creamy and smooth. Kinda dark, sweet, earthy, subtle carmly bread, vanilla, medium, heaviness. The palate is saturated slightly with toasted slight nutty flavors. Try one it will surprise and delight you.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Pilsener glass. The label has a brief description of the beer but no ABV or freshness date.
Appearance: Its body has a light golden color and good clarity with a tall white soapy head. This tall head quickly settles down to thin film of foam. Lacing is slick and minimal.
Smell: There is not much here at all really just faint pale grainy malt notes with some light hints of grassy hops.
Taste/Palate: There is a light sweetness from a white bready maltiness and cereal grain adjunct notes. The hops balance this with some grassy/earthy bitterness. There is a slight citrus like acidity as well in there. The finish is soft and dry with light carbonation.
Notes: This one is drinkable but just kind of boring.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Finally a good sampling from Shiner. This is the best of the family, kind of an old style lager, crisp, bitter, grassy. Slightly sour aftertaste. Refreshing.
