2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a crystal-clear amber color. The head is one and a half fingers high, shaded white, and it doesnít feature the best retention or texturing. However, it does leave a minor ring of lacing on the glass.
S: There is a noticeable hoppiness to the aroma here - certainly nothing that would give Stone any fits, but enough to give me some hope. This helps provide a touch of citrus and pine. However, thereís little else aside from a touch of mineral water.
T: Iíve been waiting for something from Shiner to give me anything in terms of hops, and this provides it, albeit in a light manner. Luckily, the slight citrusy/piny tones are welcome here. Thereís something else here Iím not a fan of - I canít put my finger on it, perhaps a metallic note on the back end - so I canít call this one ígreatí by any stretch.
M: Sampling this Shiner Family Reunion 6-pack, Iíve notice several trends in all of their brews: most are fairly clean, crisp, and light, but also too sweet on the back end, partly due to a slight lack of carbonation. This doesnít suffer from the latter qualities like the others have, thankfully. Itís a bit drier and more assertively carbonated.
O: Iím a little let down, because while it succeeds where other Shiner beers failed (such as providing something resembling hoppiness), I canít put my finger on why Iím not a huge fan of this - maybe itís not that fresh? Ah well. Tickers gonna tick, bro.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate honey, apple, and just a touch of grain. It pours a transparent copper with a one finger off-white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of honey and a touch of sweet fruit. The finish has light-moderate apple, light grain, spice, and a touch of grass. Itís medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Overall, short of appearance, thereís nothing I find appealing about this beer. Itís too sweet and too much apple.
