2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The description says "hop-jacked lager" which makes me envision some sort of imperial pale lager with tons of hops. Nope, not even close. Pours out a light copper with golden highlights, a small amount of thickened white head that leaves a nice bit of lacing. Initial aroma is of sweet doughy pilsner malt, dry cereal, very light floral, and some heavy lager esters. There’s a sweet doughy malt flavor, slightly toasty and a touch of a corn-like sweetness at the end. The bitterness is a little higher than in other Shiner beers which means it is almost nearing balanced, but still not quite. The finish leaves a few of the rich malt-notes that one would be looking for in a Bavarian style lager. The bitterness however much they advertise, should be much firmer and stronger. There are no distinct hop characteristics that would set this beer apart from others in their lineup, however the additional bitterness makes this better than the original Bock.

I wish I could say more about this, but yeah, it is either a maltier version of their lager or a lighter version of their bock. Not sure...

Nov. 27, 2013; 12 oz. bottle. A slightly maltier, less boring version of Shiner’s other premium lager.

This is basically a simple yet tasty enough beer with just a hint of caramel malt. Nice orange color.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Part of the Family Reunion 6’er.. Pours clear golden with a short lasting white head with decent lacing.
Nose is grainy/bready.... almost soda bread combined with a lite grassy hoppiness.
Flavor is all about the cereal grains.. tons of malt/wheat/oats...etc... Balances okay with a lite hop profile.
Carbonation is pretty high... body is a little light.
Okay brew... gets worse as it warms up.. only okay.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Poured a dark amber with a finger of off white head. Malty front that quickly dissipated to nothing of note. Bitter, but not a lot of hop flavor in there.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This is a real heavy ale. Too malty for my liking. Really strong aftertaste of malt. Pours a dark brown in color. Smells really malty
