What about this says ’reserve’? Nothing unless it’s reserve your money. Fine but whatever. Not much different from regular Shiner...less caramel malt. Slightly metallic finish. Better than a 16 but super boring.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Light airy aroma of biscuits and metallic hops. Appearance of an amber ale - dark orange with medium carbonation. Sweet grainy taste with fleeting bitter edge. Hops felt more of the palate - feel and consistency is like cola. A dark pils of sorts

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A decent looking beer, with a crystal clear amber-copper body, and a small, short-lived head. Light carbonation is visible.
The nose is a rather weak malt with barely detectable hops. This is a mild lager, more like an amber than might be expected. It is a little hoppy but has a stronger malt component. Clean finish with a good, if momentary, mix of hops and malt. Medium-light body; slightly dry finish.
O - Not bad, certainly, but rather pitiful and boring for something marketed as the special reserve beer of an established brewer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
This seemed to me almost a hoppier version of the Bohemian Black Lager. It’s on the edge of too bitter for me but still a pretty good beer.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Ckear dark amber pour w/ a small white head. Aroma is sweet fruit, grain. Flavor has bitter and sweet but not well-balanced. Fruit, grain, some not pleasant vegetable flavor. Drinkable but just barely so.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From notes, 5/26/11:
Poured a 12oz bottle from Shiner Family Reunion 6-pk into stange.
A: Poured a burnt orange color that was light orange around the edges. White head that dissipated quickly into a thin cap that left minimal lacing.
S: Like most Shiner brews, nothing too distinguished here. Cereal grains and grassy hops.
T: Cereal grains, biscuity malt, and grassy hops.
M: Medium carbonation, smooth mouthfeel, very drinkable.
O: Turned out to be a more balanced version of Shiner Blonde with the nice little hop bite that it provides. Wish this one came in a six pack, very sessionable.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle poured a clear golden hue with minimal white head. Aroma of grass and mild malt. Taste of mild sweetness, peppery yeast, thin, watery, and a bit metallic. Not special.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a golden color with a fizzy white head with soapy lacing. Smells grassy and faint malt and hops. Tastes the same as it smells but butter and dough are also there and has a decent hop presence for a lager. Mouthfeel is of a typical lager. This is a mediocre craft lager for present day, but was probably one of the better ones around when Kosmos Spoetzl brewed it back in the day.
