COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Kosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmos’ mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.”

I recall this being one of the original Shiner products, and it was Discontinued for years. I still have one of the original, unopened beers from the late 90’s.

My Mom picked up a variety pack while in Texas, visiting my Uncle. This is one of the offerings. Pours a golden color, with a white head. Not much of an aroma. The bottle claims this beer is "hop-jacked", however I am not tasting that. I would say this is a typical lager. Not bad, but nothing spectacular.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours golden, clear, fluffy white head. Aroma of bread, grass notes and some malts. Taste is sweet, malty, grain and yeast notes slight bitterness some grassy hops. Quite alright, drinkable and serves its purpose.

Poured from a 12 oz. chilled dark brown glass bottle into a clean larger glass. Very enjoyable. A step above. A beer aroma of lightened hay; nifty coloring with a pleasantly cloudy golden hue; taste is good, a touch sweet for my taste buds. Medium to slight body. Overall, and again, considering the choices and price, my goodness, Shiner, thank you!

Bottle to shaker glass, pours light amber, short quick head. No lacing or retention. Aroma of caramel and floral essence. Taste is pretty well balanced, light sweet, light bitter. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, bready mouth feel. Finishes a little sweet. Tasting notes of bread, grass, caramel, floral notes and a little skunk. Drinkable but nothing special.

Poured from a bottle. Clear golden color, medium white head. No real noticeable nose. Light body with a sweet grain flavor and a medium finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pours unclear bright gold with a shy white head, little retention/lacing. booze, toasted sugary malts, malt extract, caramel stench - like found in cheap acrid and almost rotten fruitieness, iron and other mineral traces. loose carbonation, light to medium body - oily, semi-sweet, metallic and bland woodsy-grassy finish. blah.

Clear deep golden with a thin Rocky white head. Funky earhy biscuit with a full yeasty lageriness. Clean quaffable body like all other Shiners; but with lots of crisp cracker and bread crust lager tones. It’s just a crisp lager without any corn notes or badness. But it also has no nuance. Clean and well made, but it’s still a blank canvas.

I admit I like the smell asks the appearance when I poured out out of the bottle... But the taste just wasn’t there for me. The alcohol taste came through a bit too much and it left a after taste the reminded me of really cheap vodka... Try everything once but I won’t be buying it again

Medium gold color. Nice combination of medium sweetness and alcohol. Light bitterness and a touch of fragrance from the hops. Toffee aroma. Very enjoyable.
