COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Kosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmos’ mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.”

Bottle, shared with my wife. Brassy gold with an average white head. Grainy profile, maybe a touch of caramel sweetness, a whiff of hops in the finish. Not a bad lager actually!

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Bottle. Very drinkable lager, but a lager nontheless. Pours an attractive crystal clear rich gold with a small white head. Aroma is cereal grains. Thinner palate with plenty of carbonation, and the taste is a simple yet somewhat pleasant grain and cereal bit. Doesn’t suck.

Pours brilliantly clear deep gold with weak white head. The mild aroma has notes of sweetness and fruity esters and maybe a touch of biscuit. The taste is sort of yuck with sweet slick malts, oddly thin body, graininess and floral hops. It ends with a touch of grainy malts and faint spicy hops. These faint flavors really don’t go well together here.

12 oz. bottle from a mixed 12-pack. Pours a clear gold color with some visible rising carbonation and a small white head. Aroma of bready malts, peppery spice, crackers, and maybe a bit of grass and grains. Flavor of sweet, bready malts, toast, crackers, pepper and faint herbs. Light-bodied, with medium-high carbonation and a crisp, malty mouthfeel. Dry finish. I enjoyed this the most of the 4 new Shiner beers I tried in this pack; better than the Hefe, Alt, or Blonde.

Ughsmash (7326) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 20, 2010
Bottled. Poured crystal-clear honeyed golden with a tall cap of white head. The aroma picked up bright, funky straw and vegetal notes upfront, with pale malts beneath.. this was offensive. The flavor found roughly the same stuff.. pale malts at the core with just a little interesting honey extending outward.. vegetal bitterness surrounded and stuck on the finish.. soured up the belly a tad after the swallow. Light-bodied and tacky on the palate.. bad stuff.

Bottle - Light skunk and light sweet malts. Clear gold with a rich white head. Light citrus and some grape with a bit of skunky hops and slight bitter finish. Closer to a Euro Lager but still too sweet.

Bottle. Pours gold with a fluffy white head. Sweet and a bit grainy aroma. The flavor is relatively clean with a light sweetness and a hint of grain. Not bad.

"Too much generic grainy aroma and cereal taste to it, without a whole lot else going on. Solidly in the not bad for a lager category, but not really good either. Got in a mix pack, won’t get again..."

12 oz. bottle from Tmoney99. Pours a clear golden color with a medium whitish head. The aroma has some grainy, bready malt with a surprising amount of spicy grassy hops. Very little from the nose makes it into the flavor. This is a fairly clean straight forward lager. Nothing really bad here; it is what it is.
