Pours lager brown, smells sweet malts, kind of bland; tastes common hops with straightforward lager maltiness

Sparkling clear copper color. Sweet malt aroma with a touch of herbs. Malty flavor with a slight hoppy bitterness. Overall it’s reminiscent of a pale ale almost, but it’s nice and easy drinking.

orangeish golden colour with a small frothy white head. Aroma is definately on the malty side with carmel notes. Flavours of corn, caramel and soft hops. A pretty decent lager all around.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 rampmaster (642) - Alden, New York, USA - SEP 28, 2010
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Pilsener glass. The label has a brief description of the beer but no ABV or freshness date.
Appearance: Its body has a light golden color and good clarity with a tall white soapy head. This tall head quickly settles down to thin film of foam. Lacing is slick and minimal.
Smell: There is not much here at all really just faint pale grainy malt notes with some light hints of grassy hops.
Taste/Palate: There is a light sweetness from a white bready maltiness and cereal grain adjunct notes. The hops balance this with some grassy/earthy bitterness. There is a slight citrus like acidity as well in there. The finish is soft and dry with light carbonation.
Notes: This one is drinkable but just kind of boring.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FreshHawk (596) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - FEB 4, 2011
Bottle.
A - Copper color and somewhat dark for the style. Average to slightly below average sized head of a light foamy white head. Pretty good retention leaving a thin layer of lace.
S - Fairly hoppy for the style although not really all that hoppy. Slight lemony aroma with a touch of grassy hops. Strong pilsner/pale malt. Some grainy aroma and maybe a hint of herbal hops. Nothing great, just a slightly hoppy pale lager.
T - Slight grain and bready malt flavor is the strongest. Somewhat hoppy, at least for the style with a touch of grassy and even less herbal and tea flavors. A decent lemony flavor. Subtle mineral flavor as well.
M - Light body with average carbonation. Crisp light feel.
D - Goes down easy, but I have no reason to want to drink more. Slightly hoppy for the style, but pretty bland overall.
Notes: Not horrible for the style, but not great either. Slightly hoppy and slightly bready malt. Nothing special just average or slightly above average beer for the style. Nothing I would come back to, even on a hot summer day there are other beers I’d rather have.

One of the best after the Bock in the family six pack. I don’t understand why they never gave it its own six pack and if they did why i couldn’t find it anywhere in Houston area.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 alcaponejunior (350) - Texas, USA - DEC 28, 2012
Nice looking, lightly orange to tan, clear, with a very nice head and lacing.
Aroma is kinda grapey and fruity, a little malty, not very hopping.
Taste isn’t quite what I expected, despite the category I think it’s pretty average in taste. Kinda sweet and grainy/corny with a little fruitiness but not enough hoppiness.
Body is light and drinkable, slightly sweet aftertaste.
Overall it’s ok but not one of spoetzl’s best.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 Beerenberger (795) - Fischer, Texas, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Aroma is sweet malts, barnyard, and hints of grain. Pours a clear amber with a mostly diminishing white head and no lacing. The taste has a light sweet flavor - grain, biscuit, and notes of sweet malt. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Overall, not great but an ok beer.

Enjoyed trying this beer from the Shiner Family Reunion pack. It’s not my favorite one out of all the Shiner’s but I think that it goes great with grilling and doesn’t have to be ice cold to drink.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 OD40oz (741) - Box Elder, South Dakota, USA - DEC 8, 2010
Pours a clear amber with a quickly diminishing off white head. Slight hoppy smell. Tasted more hoppy than it’s aroma. Clean, refreshing finish. Good brew!
