Aroma of cereal and a touch of caramel malt. Clear, light amber color with minimal, white head. Medium sweetness over no bitterness. Light bodies, but on the higher end for a light beer. Good carbonation with a crisp, clean finish. Pretty good on the light beer chart, goes great with chicken wings!

Pours light amber with white head. Aroma of caramel malts and some sweet fruits. Very bland flavor with just a hint of malts. Light body with average carbonation.

This light beer poured to a crystal amber color with slight carbonation and a short lived head. On nose, it’s a pretty straight forward faint straw aroma that is not complex. This beer has a light body with an almost water like mouthfeel. I did pick up a faint sweetness with a slight hop for a balanced crisp flavor. True to style but not my favorite.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 nick76 (3461) - Tampa, Florida, USA - SEP 24, 2009
The aroma is unimpressive with mostly water, light grassy hops, honey, and adjunct malt. The appearance is good with a rich gold color and an appropriate head. The flavor is like the aroma with a metallic finish. The palate is smooth for the style. Overall this is not quite right but pretty much to style.

So Shiner made a light beer. Well, it’s better than AB’s, but that’s not saying much. It’s light and refreshing, but there’s nothing special here.

This brew is pretty but quite vacant in the taste department. Pours a deep clear golden with a sprightly carbonation and mid-sized white head with a bit of retention. A little bit of caramel malt and some grassiness on nose. Flavor is very mild, with a slight sweetness in the finish. Hops creep up just a little in the aftertaste. Easy drinking light lager with nice thirst quenching qualities that dodges most of the flaws so prevalent in macro versions of the style.

Wow, I was quite pleasantly suprised by this one. Pours a nice light amber with medium white head, minimal lacing. Aroma surprisingly strong for a light beer with decent malt, slight citrus hops, and some grain. Flavor matches well and was more full bodied than I was expecting. Definitely impressed with this one.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 24, 2009
Experienced from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a straw-colored yellow, with a small and quickly disappearing white head. The nosing brings a surprisingly strong notable character of munich malt sweetness. The beer is more full in terms of mouthfeel and flavor than most industrial light lagers, and makes a nice representation of the better characteristics of the style. Overall, not life-changing, or even really that pleasing; but a decent to good example of the style.
