COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Shiner Brewing Association and original brewmaster Kosmos Spoetzl began an old world brewing tradition that continues today in Shiner, Texas. This copper-colored, medium-to-full-bodied Dusseldorf-style alt features a balance of malt and hops, a long-lasting, creamy head, and a dry smooth finish. This small-batch brew is our first Brewer’s Pride selection, and we hope you savor every sip. Prosit!

Brownish in color, clear, low off white head. The smell is very malty, some hops, and bread. The taste is like chewing on stale bread, some malts, and hops are pounded in there as well.

Pour a clear light brown. Aroma is yeast and bread. Very malty, toffee, yeast flavor spicy lingering bite on finish. Ok not a good representative of the alt style still, ok drinkable

bottle, thanks to jjfoodie, amber color and somewhat lifeless brown malt aroma and flavor

Bottle from craft beer outlet. Pours an amber color, with aroma of sweetness/caramel, and slightly sweet taste with some caramel notes, and some earthiness as well. Ok.

Mild nutty-malt aroma with light floral hops. Coppery-amber clear with thin head. Light body with high carbonation. Mild flavor, carbonic acidity, dry bitter hop character and a bit of a nutty finish. Fairly neutral in flavor and not much of a alt-tasting altbier.

Bottle pour. Sweet malt, caramel, bready. Thin. Still one of Shiner’s better efforts.

From a 12oz bottle from Pick’s Liquors poured into a Shaker. Light orange or amber color with lots of frothy head leaving good lacing. Aroma is...nothing. I can’t smell anything at all. Maybe a slight smell of hops. I taste a slight bitter...and not much else. Light bodied and thin textured, average carbonation and a abrupt finish. Overall, this beer is pretty crappy. It tastes like a thick Bud Light. The only saving factor is that it is really really cheap and would be a good intro to crafts for a non-craft drinker.

When poured this beer sports a rich amber color with hints of orange. It didn’t bolster up a large head, maybe an inch or so but the head stayed with the beer and provided for some nice lacing on the side of the glass. One thing I really enjoyed was the beer’s toasted-malt aroma; but at times hints of caramel were also noticed. The flavor of the beer is largely the toasted-malt flavor but again, tastes of caramel were detected. There’s a nice lingering flavor and the beer is a very drinkable beer. Would I stock up on it? Probably not; but it’s not a bad one to have a few on hand!

12oz bottle from the shiner family pack. This is my first-ever alt. I didn’t know what I was expecting, but this was pretty bad. Perfectly clear amber color, minimal-to-nothing head. Copper-metallic, caramel aroma. Odd-nose smell. Over carbonated, dry texture. Watered-down aroma, but heavy bitter taste. E: "Wood taste."
