This small batch brew is the third in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series. A combination of Citra and US Golding hops gives this refreshing lager its citrus flavor and floral aroma. The brew’s signature tartness comes from the fruit of the prickly pear, a cactus native to our brewery’s landscape that’s hearty, rugged and unmistakably unique - qualities we surely appreciate. Prosit!

Drank out if bottle at picnic. Light a bit sweet. Not bad but don’t necessarily want more than one.

Amazing aroma of prickly pear, fruit, and hops. Dark amber colour no real head. Sweet refreshing taste of fruit, berries and hops. Medium body with no real aftertaste.

Bottle. Several shades darker than I expected, sturdy amber. Little to no head. The sugary sweet pear aroma wafted out as soon as the cap cracked. This drinks with a slightly odd combination of candy-like sweetness and a caramel malt. It’s not disgusting, but it’s not great, either. (#5974, 5/22/2015)

Can. Pours a mostly clear light copper color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose is heavily laden with pear, but a bit of tart grape coming through behind. Taste is actually fairly crisp and easy to drink, though it comes off much drier than you’d expect. Interesting.

If your preference is for sweet, light, and fruity summer beers, this is for you. A bit more like juice than beer, but its crisp and effervescence is appealing.

This is a strange beer if there ever was one. Shiner Prickly Pear is exactly as it describes. A prickly pear beer. The thing is that it tastes like an Italian soda and doesn't taste of beer at all. It's like an Italian Soda and sparkling cider had an alcoholic prickly pear baby. Is it good? Yea. It's interesting. But it's absolutely summer only and you need to know what you're getting yourself into! - pixels sent via Beer Buddy on iOS

Another disappointing pear cider. Pours copper with a short lasting head. Not a good choice with pizza.

I wanted this beer to be my new summer beer. The sound of a lighter beer with pear in it intrigued me. After trying it I was disapointed. The beer is good on the first sip but then gives a harsh after taste afterwards. It makes it hard to keep drinking it.

Appearance is medium white head with clear light amber. Aroma is very fruit. Taste is primarily pears and reminds me more of a cider. Overall not terrible, but too much fruitiness for me.

12 oz bottle poured into a standard pint glass at Phoenix Emporium in Historic Ellicott City, MD. Clear amber with half a finger of off-white head. Aromas of pear, light apples, stone fruit. Tastes of pear, herbs, light spice, malt, slightly medicinal/artificial fruit syrup. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Feel like I might enjoy this more as a wheat beer or something similar, the pear doesn’t work for me with the lager characteristics.
