This small batch brew is the third in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series. A combination of Citra and US Golding hops gives this refreshing lager its citrus flavor and floral aroma. The brew’s signature tartness comes from the fruit of the prickly pear, a cactus native to our brewery’s landscape that’s hearty, rugged and unmistakably unique - qualities we surely appreciate. Prosit!

Poured from twist-off 12oz brown glass bottle into a tulip glass, a pinkish amber colour with weak white foam. Unimpressive aromas and flavours, not outright offensive but not very good either. Mushy malt, obviously mass-produced and seemingly oxidized, despite being a very fresh release. I’m not sure what prickly pear tastes like, but this beer had an odd, non-deScript, vaguely apricot- or citrus-like essence, again not great. Medium body and carbonation, some residual sticky sweetness in aftertaste. Sometimes I really enjoy Shiner’s special releases but this was a missed opportunity.

Can. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. A big sweet sticky nose. Big citrus, dry dusty base, sweet sugary...I guess prickly pear. Just tastes so sweet. Like splenda.

12 oz single bottle from Biggie Wine & Liquor. Clear amber appearance with a small white head. Aroma of tropical fruit, citrus and light floral notes. Similar flavor, fruity and lightly tart with a light malt sweetness. Light, refreshing and easy to drink.

clear amber color;prickly pear candy aroma; sweet, fruity, prickly pear flavor with an underlying bitterness and bready malt; not terribly bad for a fruit beer, but I don’t think I’d want to drink a whole pint

Bottle from Haggen. Medium copper in color upon pouring. Nose seems fairly tart with a bit of candy-like sweetness mixed in. Body is thin and highly carbonated. Tastes like a cheap fruit beer of some sort. Drinkable, but doesn’t taste like a quality brew.

Odd fruit taste that over powers the beer flavor. Dry feel not the best summer ale.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained off white head, with slight lacing, over a clear dark amber (SRM 9) body.......nose is fruity, with pear, grape candy notes, light malts, minimal hops, balance to the additive.....taste is moderately sweet with pear, light candy notes, light toasted malts, light orange/lemon, no hop bitterness, balance to the additives......mouth feel, light almost watery, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. This is a very light, quite simple beer. It is crisp, refreshing, but not quite quenching because of the sweetness. This beer could use a bit of Lactobacilli to increase acid to balance the sweetness. This would make it more quenching. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

355ml twist off. Pours liek kool aid and smells like kool aid. It pretty much tastes like kool aid too with some light beer thrown in. Its best quality is that it never gets over the top with all this but its close.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured dark amber with a small white head, no real lacing. Aroma of fruit and malts. Taste is sweet and fruity but with a slight tartness to it. Crisp and refreshing; not bad for hot summer days.
