This small batch brew is the third in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series. A combination of Citra and US Golding hops gives this refreshing lager its citrus flavor and floral aroma. The brew’s signature tartness comes from the fruit of the prickly pear, a cactus native to our brewery’s landscape that’s hearty, rugged and unmistakably unique - qualities we surely appreciate. Prosit!

Bottle. Sweet artificial fruit / Jolly Rancher aroma. Clear copper with a small off-white head. Watery artificial fruit flavor with a faint bitterness in the finish. Light watery body, soft carbonation. Blech.

Rated based on notes taken 11 Nov 2012 -- This beer surprised me. I was expecting a crappy fruit beer. Instead it’s a decent fruit beer. The prickly pear comes through pretty well in the nose and there’s just a hint of it in the flavor. Wish there was more, but not bad.

Smells sweet and slightly of plum. Tastes sweet, but not overly so. This is only slightly bitter and quite refreshing. It’s not bad on a hot day, but it’s far from memorable.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark copper pour with a thin white head. Sweet pear aroma with a nice malt backbone. Flavor is mildly bitter at the start with a nice prickly pear sweetness and a bitter aftertaste.

Burnt orange pour with thin, lasting head and lacing. Pear smacks you right in the kisser after opening. Pear, berries, and other citrus aromas/flavors are the showcase. I thought I would hate this based on the rating, but it’s passable. A bit sweet though.

Pours a crystal clear amber brown. Looks like a Pale Ale in the glass. Fruity berry aroma with a hint of cereal. Dry on the palate. Crisp dry ’raspberry’ flavor to it with not a hint of sweetness. Nutty malt aftertaste. Overall, it’s good and has a bit of complexity to it.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a transparent caramelish orange with fizzy eggshell head that dissipates into thin lacing pretty quickly. Smells floral and fruity alongside what I assume are notes of cactus. Tastes like it smells, but less hoppy and balanced, with an odd, off-putting tartness. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a filtered lager crispness. The taste ruins the nose, which isn’t great to begin with.

Too much like purple haze. Too fruity and not crisp or carbonated enough. Raspberry is overwhelming, watermelon waters the flavor down and the kiwi-kind of nose makes it sweet all around. Perhaps adding a more assertive hop or doing this in a pale ale style would make the syrupy flavor more refreshing. Too sweet and swampy.

Amber bubbly white head; sweet aroma def pear dominates; flava is grainy and malty slightly tart and subtle sweetness like fresh pear ; feels light fizzy; finishes mildly tart and crisply dry
