This small batch brew is the third in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series. A combination of Citra and US Golding hops gives this refreshing lager its citrus flavor and floral aroma. The brew’s signature tartness comes from the fruit of the prickly pear, a cactus native to our brewery’s landscape that’s hearty, rugged and unmistakably unique - qualities we surely appreciate. Prosit!

12 oz. pours clear amber with a ring of foam. Nose seems to be a mix of artificial-flavored strawberry hard candy and mildly tart lime, which I assume is the prickly pear. Unfortunately the taste is the same candy-like alcopop, with just a touch of wooden-minty hop on the finish. Not a good mix for my tastebuds. The light-medium body has too much sizzle, so combined with the candy flavor it almost seems like I put a Zotz candy in my mouth instead of a grown-up beverage. I presume that’s what the intent was anyway.

Draft at Willie's. Clear amber with very little head. Sweet fruit aroma. Flavor is sweet with a tart finish. Okay. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a copperish brown, no head and lacing. Strong citrus aromas. Crisp mouthfeel. Bitter fruity flavors. Tangy aftertaste, not entirely pleasant. Not a fan.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s in a mixer sixer pack. Clear, rust orange appearance with a cream colored head. The aroma is full of candy, smarties, pears, and peaches. High carbonation. Kind of sweet. Sort of tastes like peach and honey juice. Refreshing but one-sided. Not to chug and honestly, not overly sweet.

Pour is a clear tan with a small white head. Aroma is super sweet with a big berry, maybe the prickly pear? Flavor is more of the berry sweetness with not much in the way of hops or malts. I don’t know what a prickly pear taste like but this beer has a berry flavor and not much else.

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear deep amber with rising bubbles, beige head cover, small swirls of lace. Taste is slightly bitter malt that shows tart sweet fruit on the swallow, and continues on into the finish where it is greeted by light malts that aren’t up to the task. Somewhat heavy in the stomach. Overall slightly bitter fruit, not actually bad, but not a keeper, either.

Bottle, stupid screw-top. Nose is a nasty lemonade/Radler mix with powdered, sugary Crystal Light, some musty hops and grass. Dark garnet pour with a soapy white head. Taste is sugary-sweet with powdery, clean medium bitterness, touch of bread/cracker but then it’s back to artificial lemonade, but at least that gives way to heavy earth (as in dry soil), which rules the drying and lightly bitter aftertaste. Touch soapy with strong medicinal character. Neither clean nor dirty, and not particularly refreshing, but a smooth medium body, oily at times, that doesn’t show alcohol and is somewhat repeatable. I admire experimentation, but this is a waste of good Citra and Golding.

Dark golden, thin head, no lace.
Chapstick like aroma and flavor. Slightly tart finish.
Glad I only bought one.

Old rating. Orangish gold. Typically crisp pale lager with just a hint of tart sweetness from the prickly pear. I have PP in my yard and have added them to a friends homebrew. Interesting addition...I didn't hurt here.

Bottle. Pours a rather odd color -- amber with just a hint of pink. Has a high, mixed-grain, off-white head. Nose is overwhelmingly fruity-floral and candied. Tastes like an mediocre mass-produced lager with some fruity, berry-like saccharine sweetness to it; despite the description, there’s no tartness to it at all. The only way this would have noticeable acid is if Ken Kesey poured it for me. Finish is hollow-sweet and forgettable. It’s not bad, really, there’s just not much to it.
