3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle - part of their "Family Reunion" six pack. Pours a sparkling medium copper with a tight off-white head that leaves just a hint of lacing. Aroma is sweet and reminds me of watermelon flavored Now-or-Laters candy. Flavor has some pleasant fruity accents with hints of guava and blueberries. Back end has a touch of vanilla. Mouthfeel is thick enough. A pleasant to diversion to get me through my Christmas gift wrapping.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle to pint glass. Was really stoked to try this but was let down. Pour is a nice amber with a big white head that recedes quickly. Aroma is awesome. Sweet fruit and citrus with a malt backbone. The taste is where this falls down. Just not very well balanced. Not enough sweet or not enough sour just kinda meh. Finish is big time carbonation. Worth a glass but not a bomber.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
24 (!) oz bottle pours deep brown-amber with unusually coarse carbonation. Head is fairly short-lived.
Aroma: fruity and floral, with some earthy/herbal hop notes.
Flavor: Unusua fuity flavor with some tartness, presumably from the fruit of the prickly pear cactus.
O: refreshing, unique and flavorful. Well worth trying.

I really liked this shiner. Too bad I never see it anywhere. Sweet and has a prickly pear taste to it lol. I didn’t expect much but I really liked it

This is about what I would expect out of a small batch beer from Shiner. While I have had prickly pear (most often the fruit and not the leaf) before, this beer comes across as overly vegetably and otherwise thin on the palate.

A very clear light caramel color. Aroma of tart fizzy sweetness. Tastes like malty, carbonated pear soda. It’s different and weird.

I'm not really a fan of fruit beers, and this one doesn't encourage me to reconsider. Interesting but not exactly appetizing sweet aroma. Decent amber appearance. Taste is dominated by the "prickly pear" cactus flavor. Maybe a little floral hoppiness in the background. Seems a little flat and watery, might just be this particular batch. Unpleasant sour aftertaste. Overall, interesting but not something I would go out of my way to try.

Interesting fruit beer light flavors and a nice over all drinkablility. Could use more malt and fruit backing to amke this a truly awesome beer.
