I would have figured this would be one of those macro fruit beers thatís just laden w/ artificial flavor but thankfully this is not. It is actually quite dry and refreshing, much closer to a run of the mill cheap beer than it is to, say, Leinenkugel Summer Shandy--although fruit does play a starring role in this. It is clear, slightly pink hued and headless. The nose is very mild, bland actually, w/ the chief component being bread dough and maybe a very vague suggestion of fruit. Tasted though, the tartness of the grapefruit seems to play off the slight sweetness in much the way bittering hops generally would. Along w/ the vigorous carbonation, it helps keep things crisp. It finishes dry and clean w/ a lingering bit of earthy spice from the ginger. I am not quite sure how to rate this, honestly. It is pretty bland but it uses unusual ingredients in a creative and non-ridiculous manner, which is frankly more than I could say for most craft breweries that could would pull such a stunt. Overall, Iíd say they managed to put goofy ingredients in a standard pale lager and managed to make it no worse, which is somehow both impressive and obviously a stupid thing to do. This is a very average beer executed from ingredients that would generally make for a below average beer. I think most beer enthusiasts will not like it as much as I do and I donít like it all that much.

Pours a clear amber with off-white head. Grapefruits on the nose with a little other citrus; follows onto the palate. Finishes with sweetness.

@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear deep amber with a head that quickly fizzes to the rim, no lace. Very still beer. Taste is malt with some grapefruit, and, yes, some ginger toward the end. Pretty simple to drink. Not bad, just....not good enough to remember.

This beer is pretty terrible. It is nice looking, Iíll give it that. Bright, clear amber, lots of carbonation, but no foam at all. No lace. The smell reminds me of the water that peas have been boiled in. There is a sulfur quality to the smell, too. The flavor is tart and flat. Itís like someone mixed an average adjunct lager with some citrus juice and let it sit for a long time. Iíll never drink this again.

Transfer from BA review on 6-10-12- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance Ė Served a amber color with a tiny white foam of a head. The foam head faded fast to give almost no lacing. Smell Ė The aromas were of a light wheat maltiness with a good deal of sweet grapefruit aroma. Taste Ė The taste was very similar to the nose. It had a light wheat base which in the beginning that was mixed with a sweeter grapefruit flavor. The grapefruit bittered a bit as the taste went on leaving a light sour taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel Ė The body of the beer was quite light and the carbonation level was very average. The light body suited the grapefruit flavors well, although a more robust level of carbonation may have been more fitting for the beer. Overall Ė Very easy to drink on a warm summer day (which is how I had it). With the low abv and easy drinking style it makes for a good session beer.

Nice golden color with an adequate head and some lacing. The aroma can be described as sweet, with notes of ginger coming on strong and assorted citrus beyond that. Light-bodied on the tongue, drinks a little too easy. Itís like if you bit into a grapefruit and felt an initial burst of flavor, and then it dissipates rapidly into nothing. The finish leaves plenty to be desired and is not interesting at all. This is something to be drank ice cold and at a picnic, barbecue, or the beach. Itís drinkable, but lacking plenty.

Looks and smells okay, but not a very good beer. The grapefruit juice comes out muddled by the fermentation and tastes like the rind or pulp. Some ginger comes through, not overdone. Chewing on pulp is the overall impression.

Wow, this is horrible. Smells - grapefruit and ginger. Copper penny color with no real head. Carbonation bubbles throughout. This does not taste good. Watery. Ginger. Grapefruit. Weak lager. The original Shiner Bock is not the greatest, but I always have a soft spot for it. This might have just ripped that soft spot out and spat on it. This is truly an unpleasant beer.
