bottle.pours clear amber with a small white fairly lasting head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of ginger and grassy hops. Light body, lightly bitter, flavor reminded me of ginger ale with a backbone of malt and a light bitter finish.

Grapefruit taste but not overpowering. Something great for a warm summer day. Very refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber body under a minimal fizzy off-white head that quickly faded. The nose is fruity and sweet with some distinct grapefruit notes and some light ginger. The flavor is a little thin overall, with some light grapefruit and just a minimal note from the ginger. Under the fruit there’s a little toasty and slightly sweet malt. Mouthfeel is a lightly clingy with minimal fizzy carbonation. Meh, not a winner.

Pours clear orange amber with a quickly dissipating medium beige head. Bright grapefruit aroma with ginger candy and caramel. Light body, good carbonation. Medium sweet, mildly tart, gentle bitter and spicy finish. Easy drinking, like grapefruit and ginger candy.

Great beer if you like beers with hints of citrus. The grapefruit gives it an interesting, but good taste.

Medium amber colored, fizzy pour with ruby red grapefruit aromas that you can almost smell from across the room. More like a soda than a beer and likewise, the alcohol is not evident. Delicious, refreshing, crisp & flavorful. A+ for the style all the way.

Golden pour with a white disappearing head. Aroma is grapefruit. Taste is grapefruit on a light malt base. The grapefruit flavor disappeared. Ginger in the aftertaste.

undated 12 oz bottle served in a pint glass (from Jan. 2012 notes). Hmmm, beer made with grapefruit ... from a large brewery. I have to admit it occurred to me that Shiner may be replacing some hops with the fruit juice. Pours way more orange than red; medium amber tone with a slight haze, at least after adding a bit of sediment found at the bottom of the bottle. Visible coarse carbonation. The smallish head dies quickly. Aroma & Flavor: Red grapefruit may be the featured ingredient, at least in the "Ruby Redbird" name, but ginger take the front seat in both aroma and flavor. Grapefruit, hops and vague spices are also evident. The mild tartness and bitterness are less strong than might be expected. M: crisp but rather astringent; light/medium body; somewhat aggressive carbonation; dry finish. O: a flavorful, lower ABV beer that may appeal to those who like ginger and don’t mind a rather astringent brew. Memorable.
