Had once on tap but couldn’t rate it. Bottle pours Amber some head. Aroma has a slight grapefruit tinge. I remember this tasting much sweeter on draft. Still a good summer beer. Light and refreshing.

Appearance: clear average golden color, pours with a medium soapy beige head that quickly dissipates Aroma: grapefruit, tart, citrus, tangy, Taste: very lightly toasted malt grain, hints of bitterness on the finish, grapefruit Palate: lively carbonation, light mouthfeel, grapefruit aftertaste Overall: a nice fruit beer, very light, refreshing, easy drinking, not tons of flavor or complexity but it wasn't intended to be ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A clean mild beer with little carbonation and low malt and hops. Mild grapefruit at the end with a touch of herbs. Refreshing, drink it cold on a hot day ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml twist off bottle. Struggles to form a head whichquickly dissipates. Sadly not ruby red in color. Smells like generic shit brand ginger ale. Flavor is mild, some mineral water, grain, very little grapefruit, and only a hint of ginger. Pretty weak brew.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a Samuel Adams tasting glass. The label lists the abv at 4.01% and it also gives a nice description of the beer. Appearance: The body is very clear and light to medium amber in color. It head is off white and quick fading despite a very active carbonation flowing up though the beer. After the first sip the head has completely disappeared and subsequently there is no lacing to speak of. Smell: The aroma is light overall. I get some dry spicy gingerbread notes standing out over light grainy maltiness. Taste / Palate: The flavor starts with a light grainy base malt with notes of ginger and mild white peppercorn. Very mild notes of tart grapefruit like citrus move in and lead into the dry snappy finnish. Hop favor seems very subdued but very complimentary to the Ruby Red grapefruit juice and it definitely adds to the dryness. The palate feels light and quite lively.

Crisp light copper and a touch of bronze in the body with a very thin, just slightly topping the beer with a tan glow. Aroma of super pungent fresh ginger, alcohol, soap and much more ginger - just like a soda. Light-bodied; Sharp, pungent ginger flavour at first with no body, no depth and no complexity - just plain and straight with some alcohol and astringency and no body at all. Aftertaste shows ginger and that is it - nothing else of note or description. Overall, a very poor beer - perhaps one of the worst that I’ve sampled in the past five years! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 18-July-2014 for US$,200 sampled at home down in Washington on 16-August-2014.

Draft at Fado. Mostly clear medium amber pour. Slim fizzy white head vanished quickly. Mild toasted grains. Grapefruit and ginger. Juicy body. Touch sour but no funk. Feels a bit like an herbal tea.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste grapefruit, ginger, citrus. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I was skeptical of this brew and wound up pleasantly surprised. The color is golden; the aroma light and grainy with lively carbonation. I get the grapefruit up front and the ginger on the finish. These flavors are subtle and balanced in a dry and drinkable lager.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass Appearance: pours a 2" pillowy white head that falls with some nice lacing left behind. Color is a clear amber with moderate streaming carbonation. Aroma: gingerbread cookie dough is the dominate smell. Also a bit of lemony citrus. Mouthfeel: light and quite tangy with a somewhat dry finish. Flavor: ginger is bit more subdued than in the aroma, blends nicely with caramel malts and the citrus flavor. Overall: Definitely a unique beer. It is quite refreshing on a hot summer day. Not something I would buy or drink regularly, but enjoyable none the less.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2014 Can. Stamped on the bottom in a smudged sort of way, I think it says "07/17/14." Best by or born on, I don’t know. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice hazy golden amber to brown color with a one finger white foamy and bubbly head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. The lacing was bubbly and stuck nicely around the glass. The smell had a really nice bittersweet grapefruit backed up by a light ginger. The taste was sweet and ginger spicy leaving a light grapefruit aftertaste and a crisp dry all citrus like finish. On the palate, this one sat very light and came across very sessionable. The carbonation was there but still obscure enough to not be overly done. Overall, ah, this will make up for missing Baxter’s Summer Swelter from my Maine days. For the most part, I like this for me but the more I drink it, the more it’s just alcoholic flavored soda that tastes really good.
