Bottle, 12/28/2013. Pours dark caramel brown, creamy off white head. Aroma is earthy chcolate and dark grains, rye spiciness with fruity grassy hops. Taste is dark grains, light caramel and mild sweetness, spicy finish. Light body, easy to drink. Not overly memorable, but decent.

Bottle pour of a med amber red with a thin white head. Aroma of slightly sweet chocolate malt with a touch of rye spice. Taste of tasted rye with a slight refreshing citrus hop. Med light body with light carbonation and a short hoppy dry finish. Overall not bad but I would want all the flavors to be more potent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - Grains and toasted malts with some light sweetness. Dark copper with a rich tan head. Caramel and toasted malts with a sweet apple finish. Not great, but so far the best from them.

Clear dark woodsy copper with a thick bubbly light tan head, which recedes quickly. Aroma has some earthy biscuitiness and some rye bread doughiness. The flavor is earthy and rye-doughy, with an unfortunate metallic twang about it. Medium bodied and nothing spectacular, like all Shiners.

Bottle. Deep, clear amber brown with a faint head. Light malty aroma. Nice effervescence, a bit sweet, mild taste of malt and some spice. I don’t get the rye at all. Smooth with a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. I think they should have been a bit more daring with this one - it’s a nice amber ale, but why bother calling it a rye? Disappointing.

Bottle: pours mahogany with a small tan head. Aromas are of sweet bread. Taste is mild with a bready and chocolate finish. Very easy drinker, but it doesn’t have that nice rye bite I was hoping for. Not bad, just meh.

Bottle offered @ gmellison. Picked this up in town in a mixer sixer. Pours a pretty clear rust orange / brown appearance with a thin off white head. Aroma is pretty bready with some slight chocolate and caramel. Flavor is super boring. A bit of caramel and a bunch of bitter, dull herbal hops. Maybe a touch of citrus. Bleh.

Aroma is on the sweeter side. Taste is heavily on the malts side. Overall just nothing extraordinary about it.
