3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
gold with a thin white head. sweet fruity malts with a small amount of smoke that might actually be from my kitchen. not bad on the palate with a tiny hint of smoke in the flavor. not bad for a summer beer to just have around.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
A promising nose of very slight smoke, but did not follow through at all in the liquid- no smoke to be had at all.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I thought that this beer was a good one, though I do think it would taste better if I was outside grilling.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours an orange golden with a medium frothy off white head that diminishes quickly leaving behind decent spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is corn malt and light smoke. Medium mouthfeel with a watery malt flavor with a light smoke finish. Another average beer from Shiner.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours clear yellow into the glass with a fizzy white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is corny with a bit of sweet malt and as it warms a TINY hint of smoke. Flavor is decent with a soft malt. Smoke is very minimal in this beer. Like most Shiner beers this is neither good nor bad. I’m guessing this one will be a miss for Shiner as craft beer lovers will crave more smoke and Shiner’s average drinker will find it unpalatable. Props for giving it a shot though.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
bottle, clear yellow color with average lager foam, I thought this was ok, like a Kosmos with mesquite smoke on the back end, not a schlenkerla but a decent start, I’m sure they are trying to see how well this goes over without putting too much smoke into it to begin with

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 10, 2009 Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in Plano, TX. This is a re-rate, the first time I tried this, I got no smoke. This time I did. Pours a light gold with thin head. Aroma of a little smoke, little malt, some roasted corn. Flavor isn’t bad at all, malt, nice light mesquite flavor that kinda stays in your mouth. Mouth feel is light bosy with high carbonation. Overall, the first time I tried this I must have got a batch that wasn’t smoked. Not half bad at all.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours gold with short lived white head. Smell is regular old corny malt with no smokiness noticeable. Taste is fairly crisp and watery with thin corn like malt. Taste is not smoky at all, really. Couldn’t tell it was made with smoked malts. Somewhat watery and with some cardboard character, but still pretty drinkable and not their worst beer, by far...

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2009 bottle thanks to boomer0813. wow was i disappointed in this one. there might have been the slightest bit of smoke smell like after you put out a fire. flavor was just as bad with some slight citrus and maybe some smoke. guess i just had higher expectations after they came out with the 100.
