Most of the smoked brews I’ve had have been darker in color so I was a bit surprised at the lager pour. Nose is thin and faint smoked meats. Taste is thin, slightly bitter with artificial tasting flavors. Gave me a headache and my little brother initiated the drain pour. Still, good to see US brews attempting the rauchbier.

Fluffy white head- that’s about the best thing is this beer. With my love of Shiner, I really wanted to like this, but I can’t.Slightest of smokiness doesn’t save this misguided attempt at a summer ale. Watery and corny. No go.

Not much to say, lloks, tastes and smellslike your average beer, with but a hint of smoke in the taste. Meh.

There’s not a whole lot to it, but what is there isn’t all that great. Pours a yellowish amber with frothy head. Smells like beer. Tastes of smoke on the finish, but kinda turns foul. Not a fan.

Bottle. Pours golden with a medium sized white head. Aroma is light smoke, some sweet malt. The smoke is a bit more pronounced in the flavor -- it’s not really strong, but a touch acrid. Maybe it’s just the power of suggestion, but I also get some meaty flavors. Sweetish malt and some cereal notes. I like smoke beers occasionally, but this didn’t do much for me.

Bottle. Clear look, goldenish in color, white head. The smell is light to medium in smoke smell, mesquite, light, and not much else. The taste is light, clean, smoke, and grains.

Pours golden with a foamy white head. As you might expect the aroma is somewhat dominated by the mesquite smokiness. The flavor however is not overpowered by the smoked pale malt and features a rather full body with a grainy hint and a trace of hops.

Clear dark-gold pour with not much for head. Smells faintly like a backyard with a BBQ going on. Taste is simple and unassertive, but is true to the label’s promise: smokey and mesquite wood. Too light bodied to enjoy long term, but kinda refreshing and appropriate at a BBQ or similar summer outing.
