2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Nuffield (3058) - Roseville, USA - OCT 31, 2009
Very soft smoke flavor, much less than I would have liked, although in the early going it was discernibly mesquite-y. Standard Shiner composition in all other respects. Drinkable and at least a bit more interesting than regular Shiner, though that isn’t saying much. Bottle.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a frothy white head that kind of fizzles out. Nose is light smoked meat, caramel and sweetness. Not much in the way of malt in the nose. On tasting, far too sweet, hardwood smoke and just not particularly balanced. Sweetness is just not pleasant. Not for me.

I likes me some smoked beers but this one didn’t do it for me. Very little smokiness and what’s there seems more like Liquid Smoke than the authentic mesquite variety.

Clear golden with a small whitish head. Aroma of smoked meat and grain. Taste is typical pale lager with a nice smoke flavor. Light bodied. Far from a masterpiece, but this is more than serviceable for yard work, grilling, etc.

Pour is a pale Orange. Clear with nice carbonation. The aroma does have a lightly sweet meat like smoke presence mixed with malt. Flavor is a light bodied grain forward lager with a touch of, again, light smoke...less meat in flavor. Body is light with good carbonation. Fair. I would use this to boil brats.

Orange coloured pour with medium sized quickly dissipating head. Aroma of mesquite smoke and a bit of malt. Taste of corn, wet grass and a strong smoke flavour. Nice carbonation but just not my cup of tea.

12 oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma has some sweet grainy malts and a splash of fruit with only the slightest hint of smoke. The flavor is fairly weak overall; light smoke. caramel malt, light fruits. This was a refreshing palate cleanser mainly because it was served very cold.
