2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Fritz123 (243) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - FEB 11, 2012The pour left a very small, almost non-existent head. I did like the very golden color of the appearance. Slightly cloudy. Taste is very mild, slightly sweet. I thought the bottle I had left an odd taste in my mouth like a high chlorine water was used for brewing. I doubt it was but it just had an odd flavor. I probably will not rush out to get another 6-pack of this product.

Bottle. Good aroma. To pour, small head, Pale color. Good slight hoppy taste. Hints of floral flavor. Good for every day, not a bang with flavor though. If try it again.

Reviewed 1/5/2013. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a golden honey color with great clarity. The head is a decent looking one finger offwhite shade. Nice texture and lacing.
S: Earthy minerals and a tiny hint of citrus. Certainly not an evocative aroma - but to be fair, the bottle is far older than it should be.
T: There’s a lot of fruit punch-like sweetness not just on the opening flavors, but in general. Maybe it’s just the way the earthy hops interact with the caramel malts, but this is a dead ringer for Hawaiian Punch flavor-wise. I’m noticing a whiff of staleness in the malts/hops; expected given its age.
M: Light and crisp, but perhaps a bit too sweet on the palate. A bit of finishing dryness would go a long way to cleaning up the mouthfeel some, but the syrupy profile does conceal the potent carbonation somewhat.
O: Eh, it could have been worse given the circumstances (a 10 month old 6 pack of a not-so-highly-rated beer), so I’ll give it benefit of the doubt. Still a plain and uninspired offering.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Dogbrick (6065) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 2, 2012
This brew pours a clear dark golden color with a medium white head that evaporates quickly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet malt and fruit. Light body with flavors of grainy malt, fruit and mild hops. The finish is mildly bitter with a short grassy hops aftertaste. Average overall.

I’ve had so much luck with Shiner brews that when I saw a single of Spring Ale sitting on the shelf in early fall, I thought why not jump on the chance to enjoy a subpar past-its-prime Dortmunder and help free up some space for the incomng Octoberfest ales. Nice golden color, a lot like honey, and no real head. Lightly floral in the aroma and right into the taste. Picks up a little grass and dough. Not too terribly bad, but overpriced at $1.19 per bottle.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sjohnny (260) - - SEP 27, 2012
Light, crisp, refreshing. Spring indeed. When I saw that it was calling itself a Dortmunder I suspected that it was relabeled Shiner Frost that I had enjoyed during the winter of the previous year. I have since found my suspicions to be founded. All in all a good, easy drinking beer.

A rather easy beer to drink. Not much about it except it was good. Poured clear yellow, nice malty aroma. taste was clean and full. Slight hop flavor in the aftertaste,

Bottle. Sweet, bready barley malt aroma. Clear amber with a small beige head. Sweet biscuity malt flavor with a light grassy hops finish. Medium body and carbonation. A little too sweet for my taste, and hops were leaning towards harshness.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of all foam finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent orange colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was malt hop. The crisp and clean mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish hoppy aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of hops. An OK brew just nothing special.

Another mediocre offering from Shiner. Darkish yellow appearance, effervescent, with a medium head. Light body, stake aftertaste. Some hay and honey.

beer has some pretty good fresh malt flavor with some caramel and honey character. foamy carbonation somewhat smooth and a little slick in the body. beer has a nice bitter finish and perhaps a little pepper in the hop profile.
