pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2005 Sampled at the brewpub/restaurant. Similar to the ESB - on cask, almost flat, almost warm - just darker and obvious roasted barley presence. SETANTA (555), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 6, 2004 A very fine darker mild... malty, dominated by toasted malts, very little hop aroma or flavor, which fits surprisingly well for this beer. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA Jul 27, 2004 I smell chocolate! This is a brown ale without the hops. This is dark and a tad sticky. Sweet, pleasant, bright clean finish. Super. willblake (1919), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Jul 21, 2004 07.21.04 On tap at brewpub. Cloudy dark cola color, ample head. Actually looks a bit like a glass of Coke with big sudsy bubbles. Sour aroma. Coating lace. Apples and clove are first impression. Flavor reminds of an overripe plum. Delicious! Unctuous and coating palate. Sweet.
