An English full-bodied, copper colored ale, with a hint of hops and caramel that give it a malty flavor.

Visited their brewpub, but this one I bought in a six-pack. I got biscuit/cracker, a bit of dark toffee/burnt caramel in the aroma and taste. Medium bitterness, medium-light body. Nothing that special. So far, two of four of the six pack were sour. Not at all cool by any means. If I wanted sour beer (which I love), I would have sought it out.

Bottle. It poured a clear orange color with a small white head. The aroma was of malts and bread. The taste was similar to the aroma with some flowery hops and a touch of lemon. Not bad.

Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, yeast and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of caramel and light toasted malt with a crisp finish.

pours a clear copper gold with a thick white head and good lacing. Aroma is malt and faint hay. Taste is clean at first, then turns bitter. Some light hoppy bitterness comes through in the finish. Not bad.

Draft Flight 4/26/00 (Brewpub)-Pours a clear copper with a small ring for a head. Aroma of nothing. Taste of malt and hops with a dry finish. This medium to full bodied brew is not bad and pretty tasty.

Aroma is a mix of very nutty malts and strong hints of toffee and coffee. The flavor is toffee, nutty malts and a mildly fruity/tart finish.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2012 Sampled as part of a flight "plank" of the current drafts at the brewpub bar. Poured to plastic with an orange/amber color, a modest, off white head, and wavey lacing. The aroma was soft malt, a touch of caramel, light graininess, but that same acetic hint that I picked up in the Lighthouse Light was present, although slightly masked due to a little more complexity and ingredients in the style. The flavor was lightly dry and crisp, with medium hop bitterness in only a light to medium body. Altogether, just okay.

As of January 2012, this is classified as an amber ale on RateBeer. I think of it as more of an APA and it is an OK rendition. It’s a cloudy copper color. I’d say it’s a little lighter than most APAs even w/ a thin head that leaves behind a nice lattice of lace. Nose is rather subdued, a bit of earth and some toffee, but the flavor is nicely bitter and decently balanced with a little sweetness. This is forgettable overall but it drinks pretty good.
