3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jebert (410) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 10, 2012Pours a dark cloudy amber with a huge frothy light tan head. Nose is hops with some hints of flowers and herbs. Very creamy on the palate, the taste is mostly hops with some light malt and floral notes. Not bitter - a hop head’s nectar. Try it with a slice of aged cheddar on crackers.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 nuplastikk (3353) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 14, 2012
Tap at Shipwrecked. Pretty bad. Off ringwood Engligh yeast gone wrong. I don’t know if anyone intentionally makes beer seeking these off flavors. Buttery, rancid off tones. Unimpressive weak hoppage...this beer is a joke...on me.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tmoreau (1673) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 18, 2012
On tap and dispensed to a pint glass at the brewpub bar showing a slightly hazed, amber color, with a frothy, off white, slightly orange tinged head, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The aroma was smooth malt and expressively citrus as grapefruit & orange. Medium bodied, the flavor added a medium and lingering hop bitterness that was tempered nicely by a good malt base. The finish was crisp and pleasantly dry. I suspect that Rich Z., the current brewmaster, had a larger influence on this recipe than the rest of the beers. A decently drinkable and flavorful version of the style.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (8330) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 27, 2012
A hazed amber IPA with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, interesting wild hops, light Brett notes, smooth and enticing. In mouth, a herbaceous hops with caramel malt, orange pulp, very nice. On tap at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 21 2012.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 KimJohansen (10343) - Frederiksberg C, DENMARK - JUL 20, 2010
Clear amber with a medium beige head. Hoppy nose with grapefruits, pine and toasted malt. Flavour had plenty of hops, pine and grapefruits. Finished dry and bitter.not the most aggressive IPA but nice and drinkable.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 IlanMan (1015) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 18, 2010
On tap at Fox Cities Brewfest 2010. Pour was medium golden with an earthy and resiny aroma of hops. Flavor was lighter on the malt and weighted down by the bite of resin and pine in the hop characters. Not really well blended, but an interesting beer nonetheless.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (6722) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 8, 2009
On tap at Shipwrecked. Poured clear medium orange with a nice, sticky cap of eggshell head. The aroma picked up juicy grapefruit and caramel upfront with pine, citrus, and spicy floral hoppage around.. well-balanced and welcome on a hot day. The flavor had mostly caramel malt at the core with moderate-to-aggressive pine and citrusy bitterness around.. hops were amplified by an unexpected alcohol kick.. spicy and kind of hot on the finish. Medium-bodied and a bit too assertive in terms of boozed-up bitterness on the palate.. decent overall.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Skyview (5031) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - AUG 24, 2008
On draught at the brewpub in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some flowery hops, roasted almonds, and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, flowery hops, roasted nuts and some light citrus zest. Finish is slightly watery with a light caramel and mild bitterness. This beer is a cross between a light American Pale Ale and Nut Brown Ale and missing much IPA bitter hop character.
