MartiniFiend (101), Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, USA Aug 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. very light malt aroma. Light to the palate. weak malt taste with a metalic finish. General_Gao (2573), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jul 8, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Varied aroma of chocolate, nuts, vanilla, and a hint of butter. Poured a dark brown color with orange highlights. The head was tan. Medium bodied and dry. The flavor was roastier than I had expected based on the nose and there was a nice nutty note. Pretty good beer. shendrix (460), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 15, 2008 Hmm....I see that there’s a bit of disagreement about this brew. When I sat down at this overwrought pretentious tourist trap, I wasn’t expecting much. The first few sips of this dark brown bordering on black porter--served in a plastic cup for Christ’s sake--didn’t immediately dispel my misgivings. But as I sipped through the brew the lightly sweetened chocolate set against the coffee and thick oaty/nutty base against the mild lactose sweetness grew on me. yobdoog (367), Woodridge, New York, USA Feb 3, 2008 Thanks Mullman for sharing. Very strange, odd taste and mouthfeel. Couldn’t get past the acidity and alcaseltzer to get any flavor. A shipwreck for sure for me. kyzr (960), Belgrade, Montana, USA Jan 30, 2008 Bottle thanks to skyview. Dark pour with brown head. Roasted, nutty nose. Flavor is roasted, caramel malt, with a touch of molasses. Very carbinateed. Very light body for the style. Rather straight forward, clean finish.
