COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shipyard Brewing Company’s newest beer, Shipyard American Pale Ale, will be available nationwide in April. This refreshing session beer is bursting with grapefruit citrus flavor and features hops from the Pacific Northwest.

Shipyard American Pale Ale was first released in 2013 in the United Kingdom through a unique partnership between Shipyard Brewing Company and Marston’s in the UK. It turns out, beer drinkers across the pond love American beer (or “new world” beer as they call it) as much as we do. Hundreds of draft lines of Shipyard American Pale Ale are flowing in the UK.
Now, in 2014, Shipyard American Pale Ale is available in the US on draft and in bottles from sea to shining sea.

Bottle thanks to Kenny split at GBBF ’14, day 1, 12/08/14. Clear golden with a moderate white covering that dissipates to the edge. Nose is pale malts, citric zip, orange pith, toasty ring, straw. Taste comprises floral notes, lemon zest, orange squash, bready notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light hop bitterness. Inoffensive drinkable stuff but a low level APA - lacks Hops’n’Trops (TM).

GBBF Day 2. Bottle. Clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and crispy. Mild minerals. Light dry malts, clean. Reasonably fresh orange and tangerine. Light floral things. Whisper of lemon. Dry finish. Not bad, pretty drinkable.

Poured a light golden color with aromas of grass, light malt, some bitterness, and a touch of pine. flavors follow suit, nothing special, just a basic pale ale.

Sampled @ ChrisO after GBBF day 2. Clear golden color, small white head. Aroma is malts and hay. Taste malts, hay, straw, bitter hops, bitter. Basically a very bitter pilsener. Decent body, high fizzy carbonation.

I just had two of these (gifts from a friend) and they tasted like mass produced beers. No distinctive hop flavors or aromas, just bland brew. I sure won’t be buying any.

Pale with a rocky head. Dull hop aroma. Comes across more like an IPA. Long bitter finish, sometimes astringent. Yes, finish is astringent fer sure. Long lasting mouth ruining finish. Ifd you like IPA, gotta try this, its terribly on style for an IPA.

Some off hoppy notes in the aroma at first, but then it settles down and just has the familiar west coast hop aroma. Twistoff bottle, thin white head on a light honey colored, perhaps misty (could just be the condensation on the glass) brew. Decent bittering, definitely just a pale ale, biscuity, dry, some sunny citrus notes. Twangy finish, medium body. OK, but not worth paying a premium for. New Leaf Market.
