Shipyard Applehead is a crisp, refreshing wheat ale with a delightful apple aroma and subtle cinnamon flavor. This beer is available in 6-packs, 12-packs and on draft. “We asked Pumpkinhead fans what other flavors would they like to see and their answer was apple,” said director of sales and marketing, Bruce Forsley. “We listened to what our fans asked for and created Shipyard Applehead. Master brewer Alan Pugsley has combined the subtle sweetness of cinnamon and apple with a clean, refreshing wheat ale to create a whole new beer experience.”

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light amber. Slight whitish head. Cinnamon is the primary aroma - but the effect is something like a cold baked apple. Med minus body. Flavor is cinnamon/sweet with some apple skin, and there is a bit of skin astringency. Calling it cinnamon beer would be more on point.

Bottle. Poured clear orange copper with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sweet apple spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium smooth sweet spice flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of apple, cinnamon and light clove. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of apple, cinnamon and light clove with a crisp lingering cinnamon apple finish.

Draft... Clear golden ale with a mid-sized, fluffy, white head. Smells like a melange of apple, cinnamon and vanilla. Light-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. The flavor is completely nondescript with the exception of a touch of cinnamon. It’s technically flawless, though. Finishes crisp and clean. It’s refreshing in a seltzer water kind of way, so I can’t blast it. Not bad, really, just boring.

Gold pour, white head. Aroma of apples, honey, very light cinnamon. Flavor tastes like apple pie and cinnamon. Not a bad fruit beer.
