COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shipyard Applehead is a crisp, refreshing wheat ale with a delightful apple aroma and subtle cinnamon flavor. This beer is available in 6-packs, 12-packs and on draft. “We asked Pumpkinhead fans what other flavors would they like to see and their answer was apple,” said director of sales and marketing, Bruce Forsley. “We listened to what our fans asked for and created Shipyard Applehead. Master brewer Alan Pugsley has combined the subtle sweetness of cinnamon and apple with a clean, refreshing wheat ale to create a whole new beer experience.”

Clear golden pour with pleasant apple smell, light flavor, very drinkable. Went great with apple maple sausage

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vibrant golden color with a small white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sweet cinnamon sugar and strong apple. The flavor was sweet cinnamon sugar and apple - very much like apple pie. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Yummy!

From tap. Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is apples and cinnamon. Citrusy, zesty fruity apples. Light cinnamon dryness into the finish. Juicy apples.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Fantastic aroma of apples, can’t wait to taste Appearance- Looks like a mix between apple juice and a lager. Has a small white head. Taste- Completely disappointing. I actually feel cheated when I compare the aroma to the taste. You can taste cinnamon and maybe a hint of apple, but the beer flavor doesn’t appeal to me. Palate- This is a light bodied beer with moderate carbonation. The finish is dry and crisp. Overall - This does not even compare to Shipyard’s Pumpkin brew. I would not try this again nor recommend it to anyone unless they want to experiment with flavors

Ugh, over sweet and spicy, like McDonalds apple pie filling. It even looks bad in a glass. No good.

Poured a clear dark golden color without much of a head, maybe some wisps on it. Aroma was, a bit like an apple pie - mostly some cinnamon. Apples are there, a bit tart. Flavor was sweet apple pie, cinnamon.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with a thin white head. Cinnamon apple aroma. Flavor of apple pie, cinnamon, a hint of nutmeg and had a crisp tart finish.

12oz bottle - Found out that Trader Joe’s carries 6-packs of this and a few other unusual Shipyard beers. This one works really, really well and quite a tasty spring/summer beer. An aroma that can best be described as smelling like McDonalds hot apple-pie snacks is the best I can come up with. It smells really nice. Flavor is a nice blend of apples, light cinnamon with a touch of tannic pucker-ness. A pretty straight-forward fruit beer, with a strong flavor of apples. No noticeable flaws while at proper temps. A really nice beer.

"got a single just to see. if this type of beer is what you’re in the mood for, it’s actually quite good. if you’re not in the mood, still an ok beer. better than pumpkinhead. the mix of apple aroma and flavor, and spices cover up any shortcomings in this too light wheat beer. looks and has the feel of typical micro/macro hybrid...but the aroma and flavor are nice enough to almost win me over. not a high scorer, but one i may get again if singles are available."

Bottle. Immediate smell of apple pie, that fades. Looks like any other generic beer. Cinny fer SHURRRRE. Wew, too much spice and and not enough sugar, heheeh. Aroma becomes a little metallic. Slight medicinal finish. Not impressed.
