pours dark brown head is light brown and lasts briefly, taste is bitter maybe too bitter as their little balancing sweetness but it is american and lots of their breweries do overdo it a bit, otherwise their is a hint of chocolate, the aftertaste is dry but a bit sourish and not pleasant, not a beer I would buy again

rauchbier (3634) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 23, 2013
Bottle, from Morrisons Grimsby. Jet black, fluffy and lasting coffee brown head and gentle condition. Low aromas of phenolic smoke, coffee and roasted barley in the nose, quite dry and bitter in the mouth with roasted barley becoming dominant, some low liquorice notes and a touch of raw coffee bean. Finish is muted and bitter with some roasted barley lingering briefly.

Everettm (81) - Bristol, Somerset, ENGLAND - SEP 19, 2013
Jet black with the smallest of tan lacing. Mild aroma, mainly coffee, but with small amounts of liquorice and roasted malt. Medium body, certainly not full, with slightly to much carbonation. Good balance of coffee and roasted malt flavour with a hint of roasted nuts. Dry almost tart finish that carries Arabica coffee notes.

Pours a dark brown thick fluffy head with light lacing. Aromas of licorice and coffee. Flavors of burnt coffee and licorice, very little carbonation. Easy drinking beer for a stout, light mouthfeel and pleasant aftertaste. Almost seems like they went for a session stout, if you have a long day of drinking and love stouts this is worth a shot.
