A - Pours a jet black with firm and dense tan head that stays at 1/4 inch throughout the beer. It leaves a solid half sheet of lace on the glass. S - Milk chocolate smokey malt, coffee, sweet roasted barley, T - Follows the nose. Creamy muted chocolate malt. Hints of smoke and roasted nuts. It turns to acidic fruit towards the finish. Dry smokey finish. I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. It was spot on for the style. Nice dry smokiness with a rich of sweet to balance it out. Smooth and creamy. UPDATED: FEB 17, 2015 12 oz. bottle from BevMo. Jet black body with a frothy tan head that quickly dissipates. Flavors of black coffee, dark chocolate and burnt toast give way to a big malt base and a dry finish. Unique mouth feel has loads of carbonation that help the flavors dissipate. If it was richer or not as dry it wouldn’t be so easy going down which makes me think they achieved their goal: a tasty session stout.

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Black, with no head. It doesn’t have the strongest character for its style, but it has enough roasted malt in its aroma and taste to please with a slightly milky smooth texture.

355ml bottle. Black with lots of brown head. Aroma is roasty with some smoke and chocolate accents. Quite creamy too. There’s a certain harshness to the taste of some dry stouts that I don’t find here. Getting a faint hint of woodsmoke in the finish. Carbonation is much too high, which spoils it a bit. Despite that, it’s one of the better dry stouts I’ve had.

12 oz bottle poured very dark brown, looking black and opaque in the glass. Weak, light brown head. Feel: medium body with light carbonation. Flavor: U.K. style stout with plenty of very dark roasted malt flavor with minimal burnt or char elements.

Bottle, three months out of date, found hiding in the cellar. Think it came from Morrisons. Very dark brown. Tan head, that only appears after a swirl. Vine fruits, and cocoa at the start. A little ash, and a wet chamois thing, too. In fact, a lot of the wet chamois. Taste is ashy dry. A little bitterness. Palate is thin. Too much carbonation, also. Finishes dry, and long bitter. A hint of sweet, on the lips, right at the end.

Bottle @ home. Marrone opalescente schiuma beige grossolana, poco persistente.

From twelve ounce bottle to pint. Beautiful jet black color. Decent light brownish, thin head. Great aromas and tastes of chocolately smoothness! Great complexity while keeping it simple and easy.
