3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This isnít an Irish stout--or at least wasnít last year when I bought a bottle. The bottle I had was black and thick, with a chocolate and walnut nose. It was a dense beer, somewhat one-dimensional with a sharp malt astringincy (too much crystal malt is what it tastes like). Itís a decent beer, but they need to ratchet back the crystal malt, and try to achieve the dryness through roasted barley and different hopping.

Bottle. Black and medium body. The head took some time to dissipate. Full mouth feel and an impressive combination of a dry stout with a sweet finish. A good one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours blackish with a thin cappuccino colored head. Nose is a bit of coffee with hints of berry. Taste is pleasantly bitter. A bit thin for a stout for me. Vigorous carbonation. Decent brew.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Very big dark tan/light brown on top of an opaque black beer. Sugar, molasses, and mild herbal hop on the nose, but its weak. Creamy oversweet sweetness in the body, not particularly grainy malt but caramel and toffee on top of the faintest note of roast on the palate. Little by way of burnt black malt, too. Wonder if caramel or molasses added? Perhaps not. Leaves my lips sticky but full, full taste, feel, and finish. Strange one. Has many of the harder to achieve elements of a stout, whilst missing quite a lot of the basics of the style.
