I had expectations on this brewe and they are fulfilled! It´s a complex and well made one. Aroma has coffee, nuts, burnt wood and sweet malt. Palte is dry. I recomend this brownish red brew to all of U who like porter.

Had on tap at Davis Island, FL. Pours a dark creamy brown. Has hints of malts, chocolate, and nuts. Sweet unlike most porters. Full bodied with a nice finish.

In the bottle from HyVee CB. Pours black with mahogany highlites. Has a thick dense beige head. Presents the aroma of a freshly baking chocolate cake. Big honey finish to the nose. The flavor is a big chocolate malted lactose milk sugar surprise. The honey flavor becomes dominant as the beer warms. There’s a mild coffee roastedness on the tongue during the mid-palate. This is a thick and delightful brew. I’d certainly drink this again. Perhaps I am rediscovering my love of porters?

Bottle. Dark brown with a fierce, light brown head that almost disappeared. Intense coffee and chocolate aroma. Chocolate, vanilla and coffee flavours with just a hint of honey towards the finish. Fluffy texture, some alcohol. A nice surprice.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2007 It’s always cool to be the first one here to add a beer!
This years Brewer’s pours with an especially dark crimson black body, the head is tall and tan. The aroma and flavor definitely have the boastful presence of the Ringwood Yeast, which I happen to like. In a beer such as this porter, the Ringwood works very nicely to add complexity to the beer, rounding it out from a one-dimensional roasted coffee and baker’s chocolate bittering component that I classically get from American porters. The Ringwood brings some fruitiness, raisins, dates, plum and red apple, along with a buttery-ness that I’ve come to enjoy. I truly do enjoy English style porters over most American, and this is well done. The beer finishes bitter/sweet, chocolaty and especially dry. Honey… It got lost somewhere?

Deep roasted red colour. Soft, full white head. Very smooth palate with soft chocolate flavours coming through on a mildy roast palate. The flavour of the honey is not immediately apparent but lingers pleasantly. I’m not a big fan of honey in my beer, but this one pulls it off better than most.
