lagomswedish (206), Umeå, Sweden May 11, 2008 Bottle from Systembolaget. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger this is a wannbe American that doesn’t really live up to its billing. Lacks the hoppy punch I demand of a true IPA, and the US citrus and pineapple hop flavours are rather shy and retiring. Having said that it’s a pretty beer with a light golden brown body crowned with a thick praline cap. The absence of hops means the sweetish malts shine through, resulting in a very easy drinking beer considering the 6.5% ABV. For all the wrong reasons I quite like this!
Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bright amber colour. Thin head. The aroma is a strange mix of phenols and earth. Earthy, woody taste with moderate bitterness and a hint of diacetyl. OK, but doesn’t go that far in terms of pleasing me, on account of the diacetyl and phenols. Mad_Indian (825), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 15, 2008 Bottle. Amber pour with a mild hop and malt aroma. Mild hop flavor and a bitter finish. It was too thin for me but liveable. KimJohansen (4294), Copenhagen V, Denmark Sep 7, 2008 Clear deep golden with tiny off white head. Sweet and hoppy aroma with caramel notes. Hoppy flavor with caramel, grapefruit and floral notes. Ends solid bitter. Linnet (31), , Sweden Sep 6, 2008 Aroma of malt, lemon, parfume. Flavour, dry, honeylike, and biterness towards the end. Thomas_E (5065), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 4, 2008 Amber colour with a white head. Hoppy fruity aroma with a note of straw. Hoppy fruity and light grassy flavor.
