2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 thegreenrooster (2434) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 5, 2011
Pour is a copper with a large white head. Aroma is some sweet caramel malt and not much of a hop. Flavor is the same. Malts are a bit more earthy with a slight hop. Drinkable but not great and tons of carbonation. The large head never goes away.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Drake (4791) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - SEP 7, 2011
12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. That’s Virginia, where someone located in the Capitol of the Confederacy gave label approval to a label featuring a Union general. It seems reconciliation truly is complete. Pours a clear copper color with a large frothy offwhite head that quickly dissipates leaving a few specks of lacing. Aroma of big caramel and butterscotch notes and floral hops. The taste is floral hops, caramel, some toastiness and a bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty drinkable.

12 ounce bottle. A butter bomb English style pale ale. Not very refreshing but drinkable.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 williamherbert (1032) - Syracuse, New York, USA - AUG 24, 2011
The aroma is bready ringwood, right off the bat. Bitter English hops. Touch of yeasty butterscotch. Very English: great.
The appearance is clear golden yellow-orange. Good carbonation. Finger of white head. Bubbly but clear.
The flavor is apple skins with a touch of cider. Yeast-laden malts. Pale, dry malts. A good example of an English-style bitter ale.
The palate is dry and bready. Almost powdery. Fizzy too. Overall, the ringwood is just a little too strong in this one. Apples and butterscotch. I liked it very much.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 heemer77 (4752) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUL 19, 2011
Bottle. Poured a dark orange copper with a dense yet thin yellow tinted head. The nose was rich with polished wood and grapefruit. There was also some hints of leather. The taste was rotting wood and old grain. There was some strong citrus rind in the finish. I got a little hint of soap. This drinkable, but I have had better English Pales.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 anders37 (9276) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUL 1, 2011
Bottle. Pours a clear pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with hoppy hints. Sweetish malty caramel flavor with hoppy citrus hints. Has a fruity malty hoppy caramel finish.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2011
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a light amber color with a frothy off-white head. The nose is a bit of butterscotch, slight earthy hops, and a bit of paper. The flavor has some papery hops up front, some butter, butterscotch, and otherwise kind of dead in the flavor department. Medium body with a little higher than average carbonation leading to a slightly bitter finish. I get the English side of it, but this one isn’t as well executed as some from across the pond.
