2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Clear amber colour with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, raisin. Flavour is dark fruit, caramel, but with a strong taste of alcohol. Might win on some more age, as it is the alcohol is a bit to dominant.

"dark ruby/amber, smells of spicy hops, sweet malt/fruit and a bit too much alcohol in the mix. flavor similar. not bad, but it’s not a smooth beer. a little too aggressive, though better than old thumper and better than their average brew."

Poured from bottle into a snifter
Appearance- Pours a deep amber-orange color with a small white head. The head fades very fast leaving a light level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma was very sweet and bready. The sweet is of toffee and caramel with a whole lot of a candied sugar. The bready smell is doughy and biscuity with a little bit of roastiness. Along with these is a big boozy smell of bourbon creating a sweet warming smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins very sweet and thick with lots of caramel and toffee upfront. Some orange flavors come toward the tongue soon after the initial taste as well as sweet bready taste. The orange citrus is later joined by some lemon which bitter the brew lightly. An alcohol taste comes to the tongue along with time as well bringing a lighter bourbon taste to the brew. The bourbon grows stronger being joined by a little bit of hop. When these are mixed with the thick sweeter and sugary tastes, leaving a warming boozy taste is on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is super creamy and thick with a carbonation level that is very low. This is quite appropriate for the sweeter flavors of the brew as well as for making a nice slow sipper in light of all the booziness in the brew.
Overall – A sweet but enjoyable barley wine. A nice slow sipper and worth a try.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Runsas kermainen vaahto, kauniin punertava meripihkan ja kastanjanruskea välimaastossa. Suht sameaa. Tuoksussa mallasta, makeutta, karamellia ja hiukan hedelmää. Harmillisen mieto tuoksu. Maussa mallasta, paahteisuutta, alkoholia, hieman palanutta karamellia, suht tasapainoinen. Jokusen maistelun jälkeen tulee myös tummaa hedelmää, pieni aavistus mämmiä. Aika kiva!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Purchased on my trip to Maine. Pours a clean copper-amber colour with a frothy-creamy warm cap, good retention and dirty lacing. Aromas of caramel malts with some butterscotch notes and some grassy roots giving even hints of mint. The caramel base is there in the taste, but a nice bitterness from the hops get stronger, right into the finish. Gives this one a dry mouthfeel in the end. Gets better with time, got to let it breath. At that point, a decent strong ale - barley wine. Just a little too much diacetyl to be a grew one.

22oz. bottle: This one pours a slightly hazy amber color. There was about a finger of a frothy tan head that leaves a bit of lacing. It has a nice nose. It has a subdued sweetness. Some caramel, toffee, a touch of chocolate, perhaps even a bit of smokiness. The taste is good. Just a bit of sweetness. Some caramel, dark fruits, breadiness, faint chocolate, raisin. I get a little something new with each sip. I would definitely buy again!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass the first time I had it and the second time I had it I opted for a chalice due to some preconceived notions.
Here’s my take from the chalice.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to brown color with a half finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light speckled lacing here and there.
The smell had a decent blend of roasty sweet coffee to caramel to toffee. There’s some light chocolate even going on as it warms.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and blended them fairly well.
On the palate, this one sat right at a medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Uh-oh, sessionable Barleywine, hmmmm....well okay, I guess.
Overall, everything seems to be in place to be a pretty good beer until the palate/mouthfeel gets examined. Honestly, it’s just an okay beer.
