This is a terrific beer! The last time I had it, I wasn't as impressed, but it seems like the second time is a charm. Nice clear copper color, not too hoppy, just right. Finish is clean and not sticky.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Slight malty aroma.
Poured nice copper color but not much head at all. Some lacing along the way.
Taste was decent, mostly malty but some hoppiness to balance it out. Good Carbonation.
This is Not the best from Shipyard but still a decent brew

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Decent frothy head with good carbonation. Slight fruity aroma with a trace of hops. Color is a medium orange. Flavor is mild with malt and a zesty taste. Finish is slightly bitter and hoppy and tingles on the tongue. A decent ale but then there are a lot of decent ales.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Amber color, hops and slightly roasted aroma. Medium body, well carbonated, clean, decent malt, balanced, I'd say all around average beer with any standout flavors.

I canít tell you how many times I have had this beer. It has become a beer that I now buy by the case, share with friends, and use to convert people into craft beer. A respectable malty backbone adds light suggestions of toffee, toasted wheat bread, and buttered biscuits. There is a crisp, lightly fruity finish: plum and apple, with a snappish woodsy hopped finish. Again, Iím thinking Iíve had this beer a hundred timesÖ. Always pleasurable!
Shipyard Ale seems to be a pretty decent brew. It is much maltyer than I had expected, though it was either the malt or the hint of hopps used in brewing that seemed to give this beer a slightly metallic nose and flavor. The flavor was slightly buttery, sweet, however leaving a bitter finish. I want to retry this beer because I really enjoyed the Shipyard Dry Stout. Overall, itís nothing to get excited over.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sweet malty flavor, although perhaps a bit tame. It has a crisp hop finish, much like a typical American pale ale. Overall it's a good beer for the price.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
This beer pours a light amber color with a fizzy white head that disappears quickly. The aroma is not very strong, but it it a little fruity. The flavor is very malty and it has something odd in the aftertaste - possibly burned caramel mixed with citrus. Not a bad beer, but I don't particularly like it.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Golden coloured with good white head. Aroma of some fruit, butter and herbs. Taste is pretty malty with notes of butter. Some earthy notes of hops. Finish is too thin and sweet and do not last very long.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2012 pours a slightly dark blonde with a delicate white head, that quickly disappears. Aroma is of malt and maybe some barley in there as well. Taste is malty, and i can see what the brewer means by a little sweetness up front--honey perhaps? The middle and end are rather indestinct which smoothen out into a pleasant creamy aftertaste. This is somewhat medium bodied and has a very pleasant palate. This beer is good. (6/3/8/5/15)~~~~~~~RE-RATE~~~~~~~~12 ounce bottle as a part of a mixed 12 pack. The aroma is soapy, buttery, sweet, and generally awful. Mild spicy hop kick. Otherwise, pretty bad. Transparent golden-colored body with a strong, fizzy off-white head and decent lacing. Starts sweet, sugary, and buttery. More butterscotch diacetyl in the middle. Finishes metallic, watery, and lightly spicy. Flawed.
