Imperial Porter is a full bodied, very dark, malty beer with a good roasted character coming from the Crystal, Chocolate and Black Patent Malts used in the mash. Warrior, English Fuggles, and East Kent Goldings Hops balance the malts with a good hop bite. The beer has an OG of 1.070, rounding out after fermentation with just a slight residual sweetness and cutting dry at the finish. 7.1% alcohol by volume.

12 oz bottle, dark brown color, roasty/nutty aroma, some chocolate present, almost smells like a cola. Taste is very sweet, some bitterness to balance. Moderately full body, bittersweet aftertaste. Good offering.

625ml bottle from the LCBO in Toronto, Ontario. Very dark ruby in colour with a large and very long lasting tan head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla. The flavour is roasty, some dark fruits, chocolate and coffee, milky. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, roasty bitter with a bit of sweetness. A nice drinking porter, roasty and rich.

Bomber from Antioch Fine Wine, cellar aged 3 months. Very dark brown pour with a brown head. Some nice lacing. Aroma begins with belgian chocolate and roast, and later down in the glass - some caramel, a bit of smoke, some licorice and some earth. Taste is of sweet caramel, bakers chocolate, some molasses, some earth, leather and some roast. Maybe some char too. Nose beats the flavor, which is a shame as the nose portends something very nice. Medium to full bodied with a touch of alcohol. Finishes to the sweet side of bittersweet, with some tang. The promise of the nose dropped after initial and it became more pedestrian. 13.7

"after the letdown of the Barleywine last month, I wasn’t expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Enough hops to balance a bit, but the aroma is dominated by roasted malt, and the f;avor chocolate. Quite tasty. Nice dry finish. Fairly smooth, medium-full bodied. Shipyard’s best that I’ve had...not worth the big price tag though."

Deep black under a thin khaki head, with an amazing aroma of deep bittersweet chocolate, a touch of molasses, a little mint, and some roasty black malt and crystal malt. Big malty flavor with a touch of syrupiness and roast/char, deep bittersweet chocolate, and a wee bit of effervescent herbal tones. A bit sticky and charred, but overall quite roasty sweet and choocolaty. wonderful complex evening sipper.

Bomber - been in my fridge for, oh, 4 years? 5?? Deep brown-black with a huge lasting fluffy tan head. Aroma is very appealing - cocoa, light herbal bitterness, some table cream and a hint of mint. Taste follows, but thinner, and a touch sour. Light body, mild carbonation, surprisingly quick finish with a light cocoa aftertaste. Pretty smooth for an old bottle.

Bottle@pikkis. Black, gushing. Dark berries, blue berries. Some acidic.. vibes. Full bodied soft, chocolate(dark), bitters, sort of dark roasty berry fruits in finish. Ok.

Bottle 75 CL at Pikkulintu. Pours black with big brown mushroom head. Notes of roasted, coffee, citrus, nuts. Very easy and smooth drinkable. Good stuff. Somewhat thin perhaps.

1 pint 6 fl. Oz bottle. Near black, creamy brown head. Sweet aroma, milk chocolate, roastedness, oatmeal. Flavor has milk chocolate, roastedness, caramel. Long sweetish chocolate finish. Thin. Not really an imperial porter though.
