COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Porter is a full bodied, very dark, malty beer with a good roasted character coming from the Crystal, Chocolate and Black Patent Malts used in the mash. Warrior, English Fuggles, and East Kent Goldings Hops balance the malts with a good hop bite. The beer has an OG of 1.070, rounding out after fermentation with just a slight residual sweetness and cutting dry at the finish. 7.1% alcohol by volume.

From bottle, pours deep brown with ruby highlight and fading beige head of compact bubbles. Flavor is integrated dark malt with some residual malt sweetness at front and balancing hop bitterness with subtle roast at finish. There is also a nice smooth lager character without fruity esters, medium body and a low alcohol warmth. But there’s the pesky issue of the caramel-like diacetyl that becomes more prominent as the beer warms, even oozing into the aroma.

Aged for four years in the bottle... Aroma has a hint of tartness, lots of chocolate on the nose... Flavor is fairly thin for an imperial porter, chocolate, nuts, hints of anise, licorice... Solid ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber. Roasted malt aroma with notes of chocolate and a bit of hops. Pours black with a large, light brown head and very little head. Big roasted malt flavors with notes of chocolate but it's very subtle to start. Finishes pretty smooth with more chocolate flavor that lingers on the palate with just a touch of hoppiness at the very end. Pretty good but it lacks the richness and silky smooth mouthfeel of similar beers.

Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours a clear dark brown with a slight red hue. Huge brown frothy head with lovely lacing. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, light bourbon, woody, nutty and grassy hops. Taste is chocolate, roasted malts, nuts, earthy hops and light fruity esters. Medium low carbonation and a bit of alcohol that really blends well.

625ml bottle. Pours a dark, dark brown with a huge orangey beige head. Aroma has some noticeable alcohol, burnt coffee, light molasses, a very faint note of spearmint, and a distracting note of corn. The taste however makes up for the disappointing nose. Delicious nutty caramel note up front, followed by lots of coffee notes, and roasty malt notes that lead into some citrus and a bitter finish. I’d definitely buy this again.

Pours black with a very thick tan head. Rich chocolate, coffee, caramel, and roasted malt aroma. Chocolate, toffee, nut, coffee and roasted malt flavors. Slightly astringent and underwhelming. Mild sourness, medium full body and slightly dry mouth feel. Lots of carbonation for a porter. Astringent chocolate and malt finish.

Bottled 355ml @Beer Hunters. Rated 2.2.2013.
Dark opaque brown color, tiny brown head. Sticky lactose aroma, hints of Worcester sauce. Medium-bodied. Syrapy, lactose, dark malts, cold coffee. Finish has pleasant sweet maltyness. Aroma and front are not so pleasant but not too bad overall.
