3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
A thin looking black body with a tan head that had marginal retention. Aroma had a strong licorice presence, a generic roasted malt profile and a more than subtle mineral ice quality. Flavor had nice roasted malts, and a bit of chocolate. Mint seemed to be a bit too much and no real sense of alcohol. A little light on the palate.

Sample pour at Shipyard in Portland, Maine. Black with off white head. Cocoa and crap notes. This isn't good either

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured dark black color from the tap with aromas of burnt coffee, roast, earth, and fake mint. flavors were like any other basic stout but with some unpleasant aftertaste, mint was too much tasted synthetic, meh.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Really liked this at first, but halfway through the bottle it fails in every aspect. Astringent taste with some mint and chocolate and burnt coffee notes.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Brusin Ales - I did not enjoy this one. It comes off as astringent. Just the wrong kind of mint. I was hoping for Andes mint and got mouthwash. Sigh.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Big artificial mint notes on the nose. It combines a mint thing with a burnt malty thing. Finishes thankfully doesn’t last long. Eh!

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
650 ml bottle poured into tulip-style English pint. Inky black color with a fleeting khaki head that recedes completely after a minute or two leaving no lacing whatsoever. Aroma is licorice, slightly medicinal mint, and burnt chocolate. Flavor follows suit, with the licorice giving way to the herbal mint notes and ending with a long burnt coffee bitterness. Admittedly I don’t like licorice, so perhaps I should’ve steered clear of this. Even if I did like licorice, though, I’ve never heard of it being paired with mint, and I think there’s a reason for that. I love chocolate mint, so I took a chance on this. It didn’t pay off.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark opaque black with little tan rimming head; sweet malty roasty aroma with hint of herbs; flava is rich malty spicy of anise, licorice; feels creamy medium thick silky with slight tangy astringent bite; finishes sweet and of notable spice/herb

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours dark brown/black color with light brown head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, mint and licorice. Similar flavors that just don’t do it for me. Medium to full body with average carbonation.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Strong licorice aroma. Strong licorice flavor. Very different but kinda too weird. Was told to age it a couple months and am not sure it helped.
