COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA is the genesis of a new generation of IPA. The traditional elements of classic English IPA have been redefined by American craft beer innovation. Like the image suggests, Monkey Fist is edgy, aggressive, and unique in style. This beer is brilliant copper in color and exploding with Warrior, Glacier, and Cascade hop character but able to maintain a beautiful balance. Monkey Fist holds up to the spiciest foods or is delicious savored just on its own. And, in case you didnít know, a Monkey Fist is the knot tied at the end of a sailorís rope to serve as a weight and make it easier to throw. Cheers!

Drank from the bottle. Aroma is comprised of orange, pine, caramel malt, pine, and a slight grassy smell. Taste is focused on the orange citrus and is backed up by a nice malt backbone, but it is a little metallic. The brew is bitter throughout. Medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation and sticky mouth feel.

Got a good laugh out of the review below that seemed to give this beer a crap rating simply because itís an IPA. Now, I may be a little biased, seeing as half my reviews are of APAs/IPAs, but I donít see anything to dislike about this beer. The beer looks great: nice colour, nice creamy cap, great lacing. The nose is probably its best feature: caramel, orange, grapefruit, pine, a bit of flowers. Taste is a really nice mix of sweet and bitter, not overly dry on the finish, but with a nice lingering piney bitterness. Decent creamy, fizzy mouthfeel. More than drinkable.

Can from the LCBO, shared with my Dad. A dark copper color with a thick beige head of foam that has good staying power & lacing. A really good hop aroma: floral fruity hop notes with solid caramel. A balanced flavor of caramel, lemon, resin dankness and pine sap. Quite bitter with a floral lemony finish. Solid

From a twist off top bottle. Smells like big dull Ipa. Look is darker orange brown. Big thick rototilling palate of viscous bitter hoppy BS. Why is everything IPA today? Not everybody who likes beers likes IPA. There you have it.

Can. Pours a cleanish copper, massive creamy head, spiderweb like lace. Nose is sweet caramel malt, big aroma juicy , citrus hop. Tastes, bitter, but sweet malt

On tap at Old Chicago. A bright IPA with a citrus nose and taste. Taste also has an ash background which reminds me of burnt pinecones. One sip and I like it - the next sip I donít. I may drink this again, then again I may not.

Smells great with an aroma of strawberries and hops. Pours a deep golden color with little head. Taste is ok, but unbalanced. The hops over power some nice citrus notes. Had on draft at Cappy's Chowder House in Camden, ME.

Maybe I got a bad one, but it was pretty bad. It looked the part as it poured a nice amber with a frothy off white head. Aroma was of pine, and a little skunky. Tasted like an IPA gone bad, with a taste of skunk, sweet corn, pine, citrus, and caramel malts. It had a medium body with low carbonation and zero bitterness. It felt like a lager with hops in it.

Bottled on the road. Nice bitterness after taste, lasts for quite a long time and covers the sweetness of the beer.
