Tap @ Florida Tap Room. Pour deep red with a thin wisp of a head. should have asked for a room temp glass as it took forever to get a good aroma. Roasted malt with a hint of chocolate. Taste is a thick chocolate malt, roasted malt and dry. Not bad for a holiday beer.

Black with a strong, creamy half-inch, off-white head... coffee and malt hops balanced well... medium presence, with some roasted caramel... medium, creamy body that settles on the back of the tongue--smooth...hops abound--bitter but soft in its strength...as a Christmas celebratory, not bad--alcohol is slightly present and warms as the glass expires...

Another one from Shipyard that delivers like almost all the others. Pours bronze with a dense tan head. The aroma has light cinnamon, bit of butter and some bread. Medium / thin body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with sharpness that’s very phenolic, light malt and over spiciness. The finish has sour licorice, mineral water and lots of astringency. Not one to seek out.

Poured from bottle 12/2007. I get chocolate in the aroma - really. Dark mahogany with thin, tan lacing head. Roasted malt and hops are dominant in the flavor. Wood, caramel and cocoa notes too. Slightly metallic aftertaste. Finished a bit sour. OK, but better choices are out there.

Dark, burnt ornage body with a light khaki head. The aroma has strong notes of caramel and pancakes. There is buttered popcorn, but it is subtle. There is also a little bit of cinnamon behind that. The taste has burnt bread crust with some pear core and cinnamon spice. The light body is sticky, but this is easy drinking. Decent.

NorCal December ’07 - Thank goodness I didn’t plunk my hard earned money down on this garbage. If you want to show someone what diactyl smells like, give ’em this crap. A big buttery popcorn, malty sweet nose. It really is like sticking a slab of butter in your beer and smelling it. Now, I’m not real sensitive to this chemical, but this beer has it in spades. Appearance is a dark amber color, a nice thick head with some decent lacing. Flavors are sweet malts, earthy hops and a touch of oxidation. Ugh. Pass on this one.
