| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2007 Dark, burnt ornage body with a light khaki head. The aroma has strong notes of caramel and pancakes. There is buttered popcorn, but it is subtle. There is also a little bit of cinnamon behind that. The taste has burnt bread crust with some pear core and cinnamon spice. The light body is sticky, but this is easy drinking. Decent. GG (1623), NorCal, California, USA

If you want to show someone what diactyl smells like, give ’em this crap. A big buttery popcorn, malty sweet nose. It really is like sticking a slab of butter in your beer and smelling it. Now, I’m not real sensitive to this chemical, but this beer has it in spades. Appearance is a dark amber color, a nice thick head with some decent lacing. Flavors are sweet malts, earthy hops and a touch of oxidation. Ugh. Pass on this one. demdeac40 (240), Etowah, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 17, 2007 Pours a dark amber, light brown with a slight creamy looking head. The nose is all malty with a little spice. Has a nice hoppy bite but doesn’t seem balanced. A little funky at the end. Totally missing the malty flavors I was looking for in this beer. mribm (419), Hurley, New York, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Beer # 400! Not quite what I expect from a winter / holiday beer. Slightly malty taste up front with a slightly hoppy finish. Nothing really special in the taste, aroma or appearance. Pretty much just an average beer. tronraner (1913), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 15, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours copper with beige head. The aroma is very caramelly with some odd grassiness and a metallic tinge that I associate with most Shipyard beers. The flavor is caramel, copper, mild grass. Not among my favorites. greenleaf (90), Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Bottle. Pours deep amber brown with reddish hue. Off white, slightly brownish head. Pleasant, but very light arouma consisting of malt and spice. Taste is pleasantly spicy, after taste is slightly bitter but not too dry. A nice winter ale. DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Copper amber color; small lingering head. Slight aroma of malts, caramel, cocoa, spice, nuts, corn...somewhat true of taste also. Has an English hoppy bite like a rich, spicy ESB somewhat, but also some off notes in the finish. thegreenrooster (1821), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Pour is a dark red with a small tan head. Aroma is a very nice roasted malt with some honey and alcohol. Flavor is even better with lots of roasted malts and butterscotch with some toffee and dark fruit. Pretty decent ale and very tasty.
