Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz. bottle The color is an amber/brown, with a foamy white head. Th smell is a little fruity, with some spice flavor and a malty overtone. The Taste is malry with some christmas spice, Some caramel flavor and some hints of hops. This beer is anice seaonal beer. It has the right ammount of flavoring for the time of year and has a nice and even body to it.

badwhale (409) - Bitterville, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 26, 2008
Bottle to mug. Pours dark amber with little head & lacing. Decent aroma & good taste. Malty, with a bitter ale finish. I think i am rating the correct beer, as the specific one I have is called prelude special ale. The label is different than the picture (has a second empire house christmas-y scene)

MarkBarnes (405) - Waterville, New York, USA - JAN 19, 2011
Jan. 19, 2011; 12 oz. bottle from Shipyard sampler pack. Brown pour, minimal lacing. Prominent malty aroma. Flavor of malt, candy, caramel, dark fruit. Aftertaste has faint port-wine/cough-syrup components, with just a bit of astringent bitterness hanging on the palate. Pretty well balanced, and fairly serviceable for the style.

TATE (401) - Lubec, Maine, USA - JAN 30, 2011
Bottle from variety case. Not much for aroma, a faint maltiness. Pours a deep amber with a thin off white head and good carbonation. Malty at the beginning quickly overtaken by hop bitterness. A touch of a metalic taste as well. This is pretty good to have once in a while in the winter time and better on tap.

Pours a very dark translucent brown with a medium sized tan head. Smells hoppy with a bit of sweet malt and spice. Tastes like Winter. Toasty with hops, hints of coffee. Thick, sticky mouth feel. Finishes with an "Earthy" feel, I get from shipyard brew’s. Not bad. But clearly not one of my favorites.

Una ale americana molto strana estrimizzata nei sapori e un po' povera di corpo e anche di profumi. Al naso note tostate ---Rated BY Italianbeer85

Hand-drawn at redlight redlight. Pours amber with an off-white head. Smells skunky and just not much like anything I want to put in my mouth. Out of a sense of morbid curiosity I drank it anyway. Tastes a little better but not much.
