Strong floral nose that follows up with caramel, kettlecorn, and butterscotch aromas. Burgundy in color. Okay head at the beginning, but decipates rather quickly. For some reason the lacing seems to hold its own. There is a hint of spice. Starts bitter and ends sweet. Overall it is an alright beer.

Special.... Snowy scene on the bottle with horses and shit... Like they still do anything? Prelude to what???? Not that great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Better than I expected, came in a winter sampler pack. Has a spicy kick to it, with a long lasting oily aftertaste. Welcome winter brew.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2013 Letting it warm to somewhere in the 50 degree range really improved the scent and taste, where a half hour ago I had nothing positive to say. Still, it’s on the mild side across the board -- caramel on the nose and the palate with a mildly spicy finish. Not bad but unremarkable.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2003 I was especially impressed by this Cask-conditioned pour of this English-style Ale. Strong syrupy malt nose. Roasted nuttiness. A bit of cider to the taste. At first sweet, subsiding to a slight sour. Oatmealy. Served at room temp as well! Crisp, slightly bitter finish!

Pours very very dark brown with a medium sized tan head. Smells hoppy with a bit of malt. Very wintery tasting. Roasty with hops, hints of coffee. Thick, sticky mouthfeel. Right on the mark for a winter ale, a little heavy for this time of year (late April).

Strong cinnamon flavor in this ale. I wish there was a little more going on, but it’s pretty one note.

Dark red, amber color. Hints of chocolate and hints of molasses.....very much like a porter. Yuengling porter comes to mind. Not a very heavy beer. I could drink several. I would get it again if in the mood ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
