Dacrza (136), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Dec 31, 2007 Black with a strong, creamy half-inch, off-white head... coffee and malt hops balanced well... medium presence, with some roasted caramel... medium, creamy body that settles on the back of the tongue--smooth...hops abound--bitter but soft in its strength...as a Christmas celebratory, not bad--alcohol is slightly present and warms as the glass expires...
Boutip (1725), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 17, 2008 Bottle: Poured a clear medium copper color ale with a huge foamy head with some good retention and some good lacing. Aromas of huge caramel malt are totally dominating with a nice light hoppy touch. Taste is also dominated by that huge medium-sweet caramel malt with a light hoppy finish. Full body with great carbonation and no alcohol detectable. I really like the balance between the medium sweet caramel malt light hoppy notes, really refreshing and easily drinkable. BückDich (4497), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bottle: Pours a nice mahogany ruby color with a nice head. The nose is robust with some light roast and a solid malty base. The flavor is earthy and hoppy with a thick caramel malt background and a chewy mouthfeel. Balanced finish and a smooth and flavorful appeal. Nice. Imaena (175), Portland, Maine, USA Jun 17, 2008 Bottle/Draught. Solid offering. Average overall but good for Shipyard and fun on a snowy night. Spicy and wintery. IrishBoy (2057), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 5, 2008 12 oz bottle from Hollingshead Deli; Nose is grassy hops, brown sugar, and light spices; clear brown with a medium beige head; flavor has light hop bitterness, toffee, and nuttiness; finish lightly bitter.
