Delirium (411), Santa Cruz, California, USA Feb 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark amber-brown with a moderate beige head. Aroma is sweet butterscotch malt, bread, a bit of nuttiness, and some spices. Flavor is mainly sweet butterscotch malt with some nuttiness, tempered a bit by a little woody spiciness and a bit of alcohol sharpness. Despite the butterscotch sweetness, oddly dry mouthfeel, with a mildly astringent finish. Not quite sure what to make of this, but interesting enough.
Boutip (1725), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 17, 2008 Bottle: Poured a clear medium copper color ale with a huge foamy head with some good retention and some good lacing. Aromas of huge caramel malt are totally dominating with a nice light hoppy touch. Taste is also dominated by that huge medium-sweet caramel malt with a light hoppy finish. Full body with great carbonation and no alcohol detectable. I really like the balance between the medium sweet caramel malt light hoppy notes, really refreshing and easily drinkable. BückDich (4497), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bottle: Pours a nice mahogany ruby color with a nice head. The nose is robust with some light roast and a solid malty base. The flavor is earthy and hoppy with a thick caramel malt background and a chewy mouthfeel. Balanced finish and a smooth and flavorful appeal. Nice. Imaena (175), Portland, Maine, USA Jun 17, 2008 Bottle/Draught. Solid offering. Average overall but good for Shipyard and fun on a snowy night. Spicy and wintery.
